That game was truly ****ing dreadful. The first thing to say is that game will give unlimited ammunition to Hughton's critics. We were really very poor for the entire match, we carried very little threat, lost the ball too often and ultimately rarely looked like breaking down a resilient but even more woeful Hull City side.

Curtis Davies and the other Hull centre-half were absolute rocks. For us, most of our team were very anonymous. Redmond was by far our best attacking player all match and Michael Turner who IMO was unfairly penalized for the penalty had a really good game for me.

I hate to criticise our players but some performances were really poor today. Our subs today made no difference, and I daresay Hoolahan even made a negative contribution. Garrido put in a good cross was but looked really inept today. He was by far and away the biggest hoofball merchant on the field today and probably missed more passes than he found.

It was almost painful to watch - as soon as Hull scored you just knew it would be the only goal of the game. The game was so stop start with so many fouls given for minimal contact which broke up the game for Hull's benefit.

The truth is though, although we deserve slating for looking so flat against 10 men we were still far better than Hull. Aside from the fact they defended well, they looked like a pub team and carried almost no threat, playing at home, even before the red card and that makes the defeat hurt even more.

It was never a penalty in a million years, and to watch Michael Turner bundled over in the box five minutes later makes me feel sick. We had injuries and got mugged by the ref so I'm going to hope this was just a very bad day at the office.

    Get it sorted Hughton, OTBC

For all the criticism of the ref we failed to score against 10 frankly not stellar players for over an hour. Absolutely dreadful and the players deserve all the criticism they will get. If we are to stay in this league we will have to improve as frankly losing to relegation favourites is appalling. I am usually pretty positive but even I cannot draw anything good from today. Utter rubbish and a slap in the face for the 2500 who spent a lot of time and money to support the team.

I would say we would have been contented with a draw and would have had one but for the shambolic award of a penalty.

I think the final foul count was something like 28? That's a free-kick every three minutes! It made the game very disjointed, which really didn't help.

Having said that, that doesn't excuse the fact that half our side couldn't pass to a white shirt, and we really never looked like scoring. Ricky had one decent header, and the 'keeper may have saved Redmond's free-kick (not sure), but we really can't say that we were stopped by a sublime display from the keeper. Davies was a rock, and Hull were a good defensive unit, but against 10 men they should not have had it so easy.

hmm, I believe he did. We were poor but still better, just totally inept in the final third of the pitch. We had far more possession, more corners, far more shots, both on and off goal - we were just awful and you got a soft penalty, which was converted (sorry - scored).

Probably should take those stats with a pinch of salt since you were 11 v 10 for 70 minutes. Just sayin'

You had one shot on target, a penalty you cheated to win. Pub team football.

Wouldn't go as far as to say they cheated to get the penalty, it was the ref that gave it, rightly or otherwise

Trouble is with you going down to 10 men and one nil up is that you were defending deep.

As we all know, it's not always easy when a team goes down to 10 men because players will sit back and it's hard getting passed a ten men wall.

Well done getting 3pts, but that's the second game you've had and didn't look that threatening, might be a long season for both of us.

Yes, one win at home to an off-colour Millwall. Wasn't Mick supposed to get you to the playoffs?

IMO the ref was bad for the game. In the end if a player fell over or put their arms up looking for a freekick, it was given. We all love a good tackle, but looking at a player a bit too hard gave a freekick. The game as a whole is getting too soft.

Regarding our performance, we were poor, but full credit to Hull. They didn't allow us to settle on the ball, and had much more energy than we did. A lot of the misplaced passes looked to be down to a lack of understanding between players still too. A bad day at the office, which normally happens first game of the season instead of the second. That said I was getting frustrated with our backwards passing when there was space to go forward. Our movement was pretty poor too.

Lets not start panicing yet, we haven't got going yet. Lets give CH a chance. Canary call is in meltdown, think most callers are calling from their Anderson shelter.

Nice to see such gracious winners coming over to say hello.

For me, the constant breaks in play really didn't help the game. The penalty given was no more one than the incident where Turner was hauled down himself before the red card. Credit to Hull in the first half, you'd never know they had 10 men, but after the break our back four were camped in their half, and any forays forward were a result of our defensive mistakes, usually when the players at fault were under no pressure.

Hull played like any team with 10 men and a 1 goal lead would, I can't blame them for it, the onus was on us to create chances, and we couldn't even do that, never mind score.

No point fighting on here. We deserved nothing and we got nothing.

No, we deserved a point. Take out the contentious penalty and Hull never had a shot on target. We were poor, but Hull were even worse.

Afraid I have to agree. Normally I can find something to blame, but we were poor in the last third. I can only remember 1 decent chance and 2 half chances.
