We are in exactly the same situation with the wingers, we only have SWP now and we will be in the same situation if we get just one CB injury. All 3 are critical positions at the moment.
I wouldn't believe what the Mail tells you, especially as earlier versions of the article said we bought Scott Parker on Monday (it has been changed since).
Normally for agree but I do believe they have a source at QPR. However they should be avoided for everything else though.
All managers do the same as Redknapp though at some point. Seems Spurs are about to get gazumped over the signing of Willian when AVB has already stated he expects him to sign shortly. Not a big deal really as has been pointed out above - Hooper and Parker were always going to join a Premiership side over us in any event. It wasn't Redknapps mutterings that alerted other clubs to the fact these players were available like some seem to think.
That doesnt really matter, it makes him and the club seem stupid. Especially when he's been burned by it just days ago.
The Blackpool fans think it's hugely disrespectful too, they're going mad on their forums. If the deal doesn't come off, they'll be left with an unsettled player.
I don't think it makes them seem stupid at all. Happens all the time. No one else is talking about it apart from us. Go figure.
No not really, just a convenient excuse for managers. Like Newcastles 4-0 thumping was down to the fact Arsenal had put a bid in for Cabaye. Do me a favour.
Agree completely. We are severely short on those three areas at the moment. Really we only have 2 wingers - SWP and Hoilett.
I think it's a real possibility. I'm already worried how Stoke's overt interest in Hoillet will effect him (we've got a strong management team, so hopefully not a lot). But imagine if Hughes had come out and said a deal for Junior was done, only for it then to not come off. If Phillips knows the mighty Harry Redknapp was in for him, and he had the potential to come to the bookies Championship favourites, he might not launch himself into his work in sunny Blackpool as vigorously.
Then again we dont have to sell him because we are so desperate for the money. Hoillett have still over two years left in his contract so why sell him......?
Hoilett is injured, he won't be fit until well after the deadline. We only have two wingers in the squad. No way will hoilett leave
HR only said Hoillet was doubtful in the press conference- I reckon he'll be on the bench. edit: Or "struggling" was the word. I don't think it was a fully blown hamstring tear, probably just a bit of tightness that he was subbed for as a precautionary measure. When he was running down the left wing he didn't rapidly decelerate/pull up with a grimace did he? I seem to remember him casually trotting to a standstill. Wouldn't be surprised to see hoillet next week at all.
I'm well pleased with this. Matt Phillips is a definite upgrade 'talent wise' and 'age wise' for the dear departed Mr Mackie, if he has half the passion we'll be in for a treat.
