Ive seen so many people moan on Twitter about this signing, we should be buying far better blah blah blah. There are those that seem to think we have a limitless amount of money and are getting greedy. When you start getting linked to countless players for big money you then start to wonder, but it's been obvious. We tried for Ola and Quag and we failed, so we buy a stop gap until next summer. Some just want the best straight away and trying to tell them that it just doesn't work like that is impossible lol

He doesn't have to be the best though does he?, he's just a backup player, don't know why so many are moaning. As he's so cheap I'd like to see us sign an AM or CB next.

Exactly fen, as I say people are becoming greedy and think we can get everyone we want.... Should be very happy with who we've managed to get!

I for one though am hoping for another top CB.

i think van ginkel will play regularly for chelsea. would love moses here though it would mean snodgrass relegated to the bench

chelsea have got so many good midfielders it's ridiculous - mata, hazard, oscar, lampard, de brunne, shurle, moses, van ginkel, ramires to name 9 of them
same applies to Man City
makes it hard to put them in your fantasy football team <yikes>

i think there are a lot of users on NCFC twitter and facebook ICHB that are on there just to moan, they get a kick out of it. either that are it's to provoke a reaction

IMO, Elmander is a very good signing. Like Quagliarella, he plays primarily as a second striker and thus provides another option alongside either RvW or Hooper, and for £10m less than Quagliarella would cost. Have a look at his own Twitter comments about signing as well as a goal compilation here:

Like ICHB, I hope this leaves money for an ACM or quality CB as well.

Couldn't agree more! And who would have thought, even at this time last year, that we would have THREE strikers with Champions League experience, two of which still have a lot of time to progress!

I think Elmander will come in as a back up striker, but also interchange with Hoolahan quite a bit. Which I would be more than happy with!

You forgot Essien and Mikel. Both of which would walk into any starting line-up outside the top 4

Terrifying once you look at their respective ages! Most of them are not even 23! (You peak at 27-30, mind you try telling that to Pirlo or Lampard)
Van Ginkel - 20
Oscar - 21
Schurrle, Moses, Hazard, De Bruyne - 22

"Attacking midfielder Jason Puncheon, who was one of Southampton's star players last season, is expected to sign for Crystal Palace on loan. The 27-year-old wants to return to his Croydon roots for family reasons." - SSN

That's a decent signing for Palace.

Didn't realise that, did he play in that kind of position at Galatasaray?

Our signings have received a lot of attention, and the concensus seems to be that, compared to the squad we had at the end of last season, we have strengthened more than most. That's fine if you are only interested in "added value". However, if you are comparing the quality of squads come the end of this transfer window, it isn't quite so obvious that we have strengthened all that much in comparison with our main competitors. Every team in our "mini-league" has quietly been making good signings. Going to be interesting to see how it all pans out. <ok>

elamander will take squad #15 or #16 then
if that is true about a CB, with Nursey you never know, what does that mean for Dani Ayala? could be limited to cup games only. I guess we really don't know how good he could be due to his injuries - he's still young.

I'd imagine he'd go out on loan again Max. With another CB in that would give us Bassong, Anthea, R.Bennett, Rusty and Whittaker plus new boy as options so I couldn't see Dani getting much play time or bench time for that matter. Shame - if only his fitness was more secure.
