This guy needs to be loved and adored. This chant sounds like an ideal start. As DTLW said, someone get on saintsweb and start a thread explaining why it's so important that we get this chant started.
I've noticed the Saints Comms Officer Jim Lucas is following me on Twitter. Wonder if the club could play the track before KO?
I'm sure the club would do whatever it takes to make Dani feel more loved. Worth a crack. Maybe even songsheets scattered about the Northam/handed out outside the ground?
Afternoon guys, have been drawn out from the shadows for this...will try not to scurry off again in a hurry. Gimme Shelter is the only one. Please, whoever knows someone in the right places, or knows the head of St Mary's Choir For YungUnz & WrongUnz or whatever, try and make this happen. Originality is a rare beast at St Mary's and the fact he love the Stones makes this a complete no-brainer. It fits. It works. It's easy. Also after CBK requested lyrics for A Horse With No Name, I did a first draft in my lunchbreak...not Osvaldo-related (although he's in it) and it doesn't quite fit to the lyrics, but a little story of the last few years. Feel free to rip it a new one! Or change it! On the first part of the journey We were looking at League 1 There was Rickie and Morgan and Jose Fonte There was Kelvin and Adam and Punch The first thing we did was get to Wemb-er-ly and won the JPT crown The heat was hot and the ground was dry And we made a wall of sound You see we've been through the troubles and we're back again now It feels good to be out of the rain And you - you'll remember our name And there ain't no-one that can give us no pain La la laaa....etc After two seasons in the depths of League One: the Championship, our bread. Still with Rickie and Morgan and Fonte, Still with Kelvin and Adam and Punch And the story they told as their football flowed, and took us up two times in a row You see we've been through the troubles and we're back again now It feels good to be out of the rain And you - you'll remember our name And there ain't no-one that can give us no pain La la laaaa...etc Thanks to Marcus, and the Don Cortese We've risen again past Pompey Still with Rickie and Morgan and Jose Fonte, Still with Kelvin and Adam and Punch And now with Dejan, Osvaldo and the Big Wanyama Shaw and Prowse representing the youth Premier League: there's a storm passing through We're Southampton and we're coming for you You see we've been through the troubles and we're back again now It feels good to be out of the rain And you - you'll remember our name And there ain't no-one that can give us no pain La la laaaa...etc Ta
If we wanted a longer version we could start the chant with.... Oh, a storm is coming, To to your defence today, A six foot tall Italian tornado Is going to blow you away Osss-valdo, he's going to score today, It's just a shot away. Might be a bit complicated but no more so than Rickie's song.
Bloody hell. I have a hard enough job remembering where my seat is without having to learn the words to an over long song. Personally I like "Dani, Dani, Dani, oi, oi, oi". That I have started to learn and should just about be able to recall it at three o'clock on Saturday.
I was playing "Dark Side of the Moon" as I drove to work this morning, and I noticed it is almost exactly the same length as one half of a football match. I have to say the Northam should just sing the whole thing all the way through, with just a few changes in the lyrics, for example: "Run, Daniel, run, get that goal in the sun When the celebration's done. Get back up there, it's time to score another one..." Or, "Kicking around on a piece of ground in the Rome town, Waiting for Mo Pochettino to show you the way..." Leaving "Money" to one side for ethical reasons, "The Lunatic is on the Grass" could be sung unchanged. We would have to get Fran to do the soprano solo on "The Great Gig in the Sky". Or maybe we should just stick to "Gimme Shelter".
We'll have to make sure we don't alienate Lambert with all this Osvaldo love. If we suddenly start cheering on his competition so much he might think we've turned our backs on him.
Well assuming Dani will be introduced from the bench, I assume Rickie will be get a fairly rousing reception from the start, this being the homecoming from his England and WBA heroics.
can't be bothered to look through the whole thread ATM . When he scores , what about oh It must be Daniel , he's always on the score card............. Sheet will NOT sound good IMHO .
