It will take a little time for the players to gel, it's best not to become too pessimistic after one game, they did play some good stuff. Obviously Fletcher will be a massive boost when he returns but he will maybe need a few games. However, I reckon if Altidore gets a goal to boost his confidence he could really be something. Leave the judgements to about 10 games then we will know a lot better.
I thought we played well. Nice to see us passing out from the back and nice to see us keeping possession. Maybe we were too nice though? I thought Altidore looked good, most players had a good first half. Thought it was a foul on our keeper for their goal would have to see it again though? They were definitely blocking Westwood! Think we will win more than we lose this season. Still think a couple of players in the transfer window could make us. Had a good day out regardless.
Is that all you can manage PDC.....you must be out crying a river in some gutter are you....was expecting a whole rake of excuses and what if's from you, well dissappointed :-/ Or maybe you watched the same game that i did and realised there aren't any..... we played like a team who have been together for a few weeks, and it showed badly..... can only get better though. Oh no, theres all of my bonus points gone, i'll be -300000 again now, dawn it!!!! Pmsl
At least you wrote in some positives, most of last season there was very little to be positive about, I for one feel we are on the edge of some thing remarkable, that will make people take notice in the right way, hang in there, we are going in the right direction.
You may be right Jokinear needs to get some signings in on the other hand Sunderland will be more than OK
Celustka, Roberge, Giaccerini, Cabral and Altidore > Colback, O'Shea, Johnson, Larsson and Sessegnon. By about 20 country miles...
Doesn't really matter how good you think the players are. Results are all that matters. Our squad man for man is significantly better than yours, but does it mean anything if we don't have the right system to benefit them? No.
Fulhum set out to get a goalless draw (and scored a goal due to sloppy defending - not to blame Roberge who was playing his 1st premier league game), choked the center and limited our attacks in the final 3rd. Dont think we can say Sess (or anyone else) was poor, just Fulham's game plan worked. We'll do better against teams that play an open style of football imo
Seems fair mate. I prefer today to look at the positives, mainly Cabral & Altidore for me, both look handy as ****.
As much as I wanted MON out, can't see your point there MON only bought Johnson out of that list, the rest he inherited
We are now 3 managers and 3 years down the line and the big problem for me is Sessegnon. He is simply not doing it on any kind of regularity and hasn't for 3 different managers over the last 3 seasons. If today is anything to go by then we are in for yet another season of mainly ****e, with a splash of average with 1 or 3 quality games only. I really hope these rumours are true about him going so we can at long last get a proper striker in and maybe we will score some goals at last. Sess will not get 10 goals in one season if he lives and plays for the next 50 years. We cannot afford the luxury of a player that performs every leap year. We need strikers that offer a goal threat. That was the glaring hole in our play today and Sess didnt even know how to try fill it let alone actually fill it.
