What dictates the market rate of players is what likewise players have been sold for, how many players of that type are available and the current needs of clubs in the market and what they have to spend, it's very fluid at the steadiest of times. It's obtuse stupidity to keep saying over and over that Arsenal was the only one to make an offer therefor his valuation is 40 million. To use an analogy already used, but a more accurate one to fit in with how I see the market for footballers, A house I can value at 1m because other similar properties get sold for 1m, but get offered 750k, I say no thx that's not enough, it doesn't mean the market rate is 750k at all, it means someone's trying to get my house for less than the market value, that's all, nothing else, I have the choice of waiting for the right offer. If similar houses start going for 750k then the market rate I imagine would then drop and I'd have to accept the 750k, as with Suarez, players of his type are still worth in the region of 50k+ regardless of Arsenal's bargain hunting because that's what is being forked out, one cheapskate trying to get the player for less than his worth doesn't make him worth what they offered as Arsenal are not the market just because they are the only one that offered, it was one offer at one time. No one knows if other clubs were looking at Suarez but had not the funds to make the offer nor whether any clubs are looking at Jan with a mind to offer 50-55 million now that it has become abundantly clear he wants out. If anything, now that so many top players have moved and won't be moving again soon it possibly adds to his worth as it would with a house meeting certain criteria, if those houses were going for 1m and they were all sold except for yours then IF there are 3 or 4 buyers looking at it over time the value can easily increase due to availability and demand. This is the same with Suarez, if and it's just theory, if 3 clubs decide they want to sign him in Jan, we may get more for him than we would normally get.
It's all so quiet on the Suarez front, there isn't even an article on the BBC front page about him Just waiting for the silence to be broken when he does his international interviews
one of their low paid interns probably accidentally deleted the Suarez article templates, causing confusion and uproar
TBF, it was much better than the balance sheet debate It wasn't me Ok Sisu, enough's enough. I'm quite happy to see them but the punters have put their point across and Bow asked for it to stop too PS...maybe they deserve their own thread?
Fair enough, maybe remember that when posting off topic testis in threads then or are there two rulebooks
Last thing I read is that he has travelled with Uraguay even though he is injured and has said that he will not answer any questions on his future. Learning to keep his gob shut, maybe.
I have a feeling that he will keep quiet this time but that may well be part of his plan to get a transfer, who knows.
Wouldn't mind hearing something along these lines to break the ice: "As I have said from the start I am a Liverpool player and am contracted to this club, they wish to keep me so I will give my all for the coming season" Fat chance though I suspect.
I wouldn't believe a word of that anyway, he's already said how he feels/thinks and no amount of grovelling will change my mind now
