This is indeed a crazy world. Can we believe anything that has been said by anyone?
Verbal agreement: we are led not to believe Suarez when he says Rodgers promised him that h would be released should liverpool not get into CL and a CL club made a bid for him. Surely Suarez wouldn't lie, would he? In the Evra case, club and fans swore that he told the truth and only the truth.
The meaningless clause: it is now obvious that the clause in the contract which said that 'talking' can start at £40m +1 had no meaningful purpose for the player. So what was the true purpose of inserting that clause? Is it too cynical to think that the club's lawyers got one over Suarez's advisers?
Commitment to the club: Rodgers and Gerrard said a few weeks ago that they believed that if Suarez was forced to stay he would knuckle down and give 100% to the Liverpool cause. Yet Carragher that unimpeachable stalwart of the club said that Suarez was totally unrecognisable in his behaviour and non commitment to the club and that he was really disappointed and let down by Suarez attitude. The same had been said by many posters here who said Suarez knew only one way to play and that is 100%.
Suarez and his importance to the club: Gerrard announces that his club's performance this season is dependent on Suarez staying at the club. Was Gerrard trying to pull at his heart strings? Was he testing his loyalty. Again, in retrospect, Gerrard was ill advised?
Apologies: now Suarez is being told to apologise to his team mates and that has been publicly announced. We just have to wonder why this public humiliation. If he plays later, does it mean that he has apologised? What can be gained by such an announcement?
This is just a crazy world.
