Coutinho looked great, loads of energy, wanted the ball all over the pitch which he was all over, will develop into a wonderful player when he gets a bit stronger and improves both his finishing and final delivery (not that they're bad now). Linked up well with Enrique on occasion.
Toure looks a sound buy, a calm and experienced head on his shoulders trying to keep things calm at the back, and I say trying because it was fraught back there at times.
Ibe is very impressive.
I like the look of Aspas too, good attitude and should score a few goals.
The rest of it was as we were last season really, loads of possession with no cutting edge. Sturridge looking handy and explosive when he came on but lacking service or a finish. Allen cut a diminutive figure really, he tries hard but is pretty ineffective. Lucas and Gerrard were OK, can play much better though. Wisdom isn't ready to play regular first team yet, too inexperienced, had a rough time of it against Balde (who played excellently for Celtic) and doesn't bode well for the bigger players he will have to face in the Prem, has potential though. Johnson was adventurous, didn't have too bad of a game.
And of course it would be Downing's almost back pass that gifted them a goal.
One pre-season loss isn't so bad, but it was against the most capable side which is obviously worrying. Basically we need to sharpen up in the last third. We move the ball around well but it lacks impetus sometimes and as I said at the start we need the cutting edge of players who will finish of the move without hesitation.
