don't forget lads, there won't be any beer on sale, bar the ****e, unatmospheric hotel bars...and at stupid prices to boot. doha is a 1 camel town and a boatload of new infra won't change that...
it is one of the most ridiculous decisions ever made for an event like this. it's just wrong on so many levels. at least there'll be less thuggery, but mostly coz nee one will turn up
Don't see what all the fuss is about, personally. England won't have a decent team by then and we won't qualify x
i'm not sure how it stacks up, from our pov, acts of parliament, eu legislation, then where? corruption on a massive scale, i would be turning bank accounts upside down me like. as i said are these ****ers above the law? its obvious
Why do people live there then?, it is like the Sahara desert or death valley, why build there. build the stadiums underground or play at night, or have giant fans in the roofs blowing down, knowing our luck it will p*** down all through the tournament!. Just thought though fans would blow the ball all over the place!.
Monty 987 I like the thought - at least the Germans cant cheat and have the ball 6 months before anyone else. If we do qualify, bring Bent out of retirement and demand they use beachballs x
On a more positive note though at least all the England players will be in full flow come the winter, not f**ked like they usually are at the end of the season. Might be our only chance to win the bloody thing!!!
Just another thought about playing in our winter - would also have a tremendous impact on ECL and Europea Cup fixtures as well as domestic. Blatter will have left a wonderful legacy unless Platini takes over and does a rethink!
I lived up the road in Dubai, and agree 100%. Summers there are great for sitting by the pool drinking cocktails, but not for playing sports. I was astonished when they were awarded the WC. Should have been Oz.
Been saying this for years. The idiot Blatter and his like should be well gone. A Bobby Robson-type would have been great in that role. Surely there are others suitable. Why not run it out of England? We started it all off.
Fifa may have made a "mistake" in awarding the 2022 World Cup to Qatar, according to president Sepp Blatter. Summer temperatures can reach 50C in the Middle Eastern country. Football Association chairman Greg Dyke said it would be "impossible" to play in such conditions, and Blatter wants the tournament moved to the winter. Asked by insideworldfootball.com about awarding Qatar the tournament, the 77-year-old said: "It may well be that we made a mistake at the time." The Khalifa stadium will be expanded from 50,000 seats to 68,030 New stadiums are being built in Qatar and existing ones will have their capacity extended Blatter, who in May said it was "not rational" to play the World Cup in Qatar in June and July, added: "On the other hand, you must also consider political and geo-political realities. "The World Cup is Fifa's biggest, if not only, global event. Who are we, the Europeans, to demand that this event has to cater to the needs of 800million Europeans above all? "I think it is high time that Europe starts to understand that we do not rule the world anymore, and that some former European imperial powers can no longer impress their will onto others in far away places. "We must accept that football has moved away from being a European and South American sport - it has become the world sport that billions of fans are excitedly following every week, everywhere in the world." Blatter hopes Fifa's executive committee will follow his proposal to switch the tournament to the winter when it meets next month. Should that be the case, the Swiss added: "The next steps will include a close look at the international calendar and to establish what consequences the change would have. "And we would naturally need to speak to and consult with all interested parties and stakeholders." Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore said in July that switching the 2022 World Cup to winter would cause "absolute chaos" for football leagues around the world. Qatar defeated bids from South Korea, Japan, Australia and the United States to win a ballot of Fifa's 22 executive members in 2010 to host the tournament. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24023651
Blatter is a total twat. Bleating on like a ****ing schoolie now. Wonder how many riyal's he pocketed with his grease ridden hands made from arab oil money? Oh aye, along with all those roubles stuffed down his keks seeing as how Russia is awash with oil & gas money. This is the way now. It's not who has the best stadia, transport infrastructure, hotel facilities, blah, blah. It's who can wedge that Swiss cnut the most cash. Seriously, if him & his snail eating marra both died tonight would any football fan give one single ****? Blatter is as much a dictator as Bobby Mugabe.
