I know this is a bit petty.
But it's interesting how there was a Tweet from someone from overseas, Malaysia I think it was, to the Andy Dawson testimonial page asking "Are the Hull City Tigers playing tomorrow?" and they Tweeted back "Yes!"... that tweet has now mysteriously vanished.

It's good that this group, whether it is run by the club or not, are distancing themselves away from this name change. It's nothing to do with Daws, and I am MAJORLY looking forward to the games tomorrow.

To coincide with our 110th year anniversary we shall be named 'hull tigers' and all the merchandise changed officially

15 March 2013: Change the name of the company to Hull City Tigers Limited
17 July 2013: HDM: Managing director Nick Thompson denies plans to rebrand Hull City as Hull City Tigers
9 August 2013: HDM: Allam exclusive: We WILL be called Hull City Tigers

Who thinks Nick Thompson was lying?

It goes without saying that this is disgraceful, selfish and naive on Allams part.

My only concern is if the backlash from fans pisses him off and he has one of his petulant little tantrums.

We've already seen him act like a spoilt brat when things didn't go his way with the council, then again with the various issues with Hull FC.

I'm sure he'll have he attitude of 'how dare these people criticise me after all I've done...etc'

He doesn't seem the sort of person to back down, even if he knows he should.

Shouldn't you be Airlie AFC?

Interestingly, the club's Twitter feed still has a background saying that people should hashtag "#hcafc"... wonder if that will change in the very near future?

Of course there is the possibility that Allam was economical with the truth with Nick Thompson.

Absolutely terrible timing for the announcement. I really hope the announcement doesn't effect Dawson's testimonial by creating a negative atmosphere in the ground. It's not fair that the club have potentially jeopardised the testimonial match of such a great servant to this club.

As for the decision itself, the Allam's may have saved us and I'm grateful for that, however that doesn't excuse them for making this terrible decision.

Just seen someone post this on Twitter.
I thought Hull City had always been called the tigers. Why you all crying? What's with the song you're getting mauled by the tigers? #huh

Another clueless one...

Here we go again, the name has been altered slightly, big wow, were not playing in a different postcode, or changed colours,or hurtling head long into admin,no just a slight name change. I support Hull City have done for 40 years or more and i suspect I will for the next 40, in a few weeks this will all be forgotten apart from them few who like to rattle on about tradition. Things move on stand still you get left behind.

Posts like this piss me off. What do you mean 'get left behind'? There is no advantage to changing the name, we're not leaving other clubs behind by making this change, we're just making our club look silly. These vague suggestions that it is somehow an advantage to change your name are just ridiculous.

I notice you don't seem to have any issue dropping the "A" from your username.

For SnB: The team name and badges on the shirts will have Hull City, Tigers, on it. All they've dropped is "The" and "AFC", 2 things I never use, and honestly don't care about that minor change.

History is a funny thing. It's a record of what's happened in the past. Nothing more. The actual colours the team play in has changed in the past, the actual badge has changed a few times before. We now play in a different stadium.

Did these much much bigger events cause our "history" to be invalidated and removed for ever? No.

The biggest event in our recent history that WOULD have caused us to be removed for ever was stopped by the man some of you (Brady, you're a disgrace) would have publicly flogged.

It's funny how all of a sudden for some of you, the Club not the forces swirling around it affecting your personal liberty and freedom to support the club is the most important thing ever. Shame you didn't all think that way when some of us were parking up at Hartshead Moor. In fact, it's slightly baffling that back then, the most important thing was NOT the club, it was making a stand on an issue and at the cost of support of the club.

If I could be bothered I could quote loads of posts from you in the last few months clinging on to the idea that the name change wasn't happening. That was your entire argument for months, even challenging OLM to offer a date when it would happen and insisting that he couldn't because it never would change.

Now you're forgetting that, not admitting you were wrong but pretending it makes no difference? It's obvious for all to see that you're completely pro-anything the club does and won't stand for anyone questioning it. If your opinions were at least consistent I could have some respect for it. I just don't understand what you hope to achieve by pretending everything is fine no matter what happens.

I know this is a bit petty.

That page is ran by the testimonial committee, not the club.

So when do I change the name of this board then? <whistle>

You don't.

Assem won't give a **** about that, FACT.

This cartoon doesn't seem so funny now!

How? What difference does the name change make to Dawson's Testimonial?

Who intended to go who will not now?
