To be fair, there's quite a lot of Scunny fans on Twitter saying he fully deserves his testimonial and wishing everyone a good day on Saturday.

I didn't know he was donating the proceeds to childrens charity. That's the measure of the man <ok>

Agree . Trouble is they have all been to that many pre-season games over the last 30 years they just got bored with turning up and watching a game that the players don't want to play in case they get injured . And after the lack of support for deano big day a lot of them have said never again.

Why not say "**** the part time fans and lightweights, I'm turning up to pay my respects"?

Its all about the turning up for a player who deserves it.
Dawson never let our club down.
I won't be letting him down.

I think this is the norm now with testimonials. They have a chosen charity - Dawson's is the Daisy Appeal - and donate a certain amount to that charity. It is his money though so he can (and probably will) keep some for himself. He deserves it.

I'm on my holidays otherwise i would have gone but I disagree with testimonials for players now. They earn enough as it is.

That's why they have started bringing charities into it. The testimonial year/match is more of a show of respect for the player which as a bonus makes money, mainly fr charity. It's a good thing all round IMO. It's rare that a player makes 10 years now and they deserve recognition when they do.

How much of say 200 grand, as an example, goes to charity?

It'd be interesting to know how many City players have had testimonials over the years, anyone know? Im not sure it is that rare, i doubt even years ago many got them.

I have no idea. The money is all given to the player and it is up to him how much to donate to his chosen charity. Neil Mann was the last one to have one. I have no idea about before that.

Well, there was Deano, not for 10 years of service, but it was still a testimonial.

We'll have no idea how much of the proceeds go to charity. Maybe after cost, the kids get the whole swag bag. After all,the Allams have supported the daisy appeal in the past.

Just go to the game eh ?

    £10/£5,gets you Daws,Ash,Deano...should be a laugh...

The last warm up game, against a very good apponent.

    And you help the kids.

    What's up ?

Papa is a trustee of the Daisy Appeal. However he and the club have no control over the testimonial money. It's up to Andy alone.

I wonder who the next player announced will actually be?

We haven't heard from a keeper yet, so I'm guessing someone like Boaz.

Still doubt it will be anyone currently playing. Though I'd love it to be Boaz. For some reason I dreamt we re-signed him as a backup last night. Oddly he had the number 34 shirt.

I also maintain we'll see ***an, Hughes and Elliott confirmed soon.

It probably will be someone like Mussie to be fair.

I agree with those 3 as well. Though I am sure Hughes said he was going into rehab, sadly. Hopefully I was mistaken.
