His price will drop like a stone if he has not played for 6 months, and clubs know he wants out and you need to sell, in the case you mentioned you would be lucky to recoup your original price for him. Hell even now after he has made it public he wants out and after one of the best seasons of his life there is still only one club in for him, 6 months out doing nothing and the price will plummet.

As I said We'll see.

The only thing you added to an already existing list was "hadn't played for 6 months which isn't true. It will be 4 and only if he goes on strike. He'll still be the same player he was. He's not recovering from a big injury and I doubt he'll live in Burger King in World Cup year.

But If that's the case it works both ways: so will any chance of improving on his current salary in fact he'll be offered less and he's in it for him after all. These imaginary ultimatums are a double edged sword after all.

No I sincerely doubt we're being that petty, if it were the case we wouldn't want to be leaving it this late anyway to get the cash+replacement when it's obvious Arsenal will qualify.

What if we were using that as an excuse to delay the inevitable in the hope that someone else bids? Maybe we've been flirting with other clubs in the background?

(I don't believe this either, just saying it would be a nightmare if true)

As we apid £24M then his price can sink even lower than that before Liverpool actually start making a loss on the player.

3 years on his contract, known talent, may lose some value from being out of the game, BUT

Its a World Cup year, he'll want to play to ensure he gets picked. Will need to play well to get picked. If he really wants away, he'll put in that transfer request and waive his 'loyalty' bonuses. He shouldn't have signed that contract extention either...

LFC hold the cards, he can only withhold his labour.

Its up to him and Spurs, really. If Real don't get Bale, they might come sniffing around and we can negotiate a deal. Otherwise, LFC are not lkely to sell to another PL club for less that the market value.

You make a fair point, I stated on out thread that I think real might come in at the end of the transfer window, but would be unlikely to pay the full fee up front, they usually always pay in instalments, look how the screwed spurs, they still owe then 12 million from the modric deal, and were only willing to pay 20 million up front for bale.

But LFC could do a player plus staged payments deal with Madrid.

Personally, I can't see the upfront versus staged payment argument. If it isn't paid upfront then we pay for his replacement in stages too. At the end of the day, its all money which ends up in the same forecast irrelevant of when it is received. It doesn't mean the club has less money to spend, it only effects the cashflow chart and possibly a bit less interest earnt too but then, we'd be paying it back out on new signings anyway.

i should imagine Ayre has sent quite a few emails abroad to clubs saying give us your best price for this twat and waiting to hear back lol

yeah given the nature of this clause info finding its way to the Emirates, offer him for 35 to Real rather than take 40+1 from Arsenal

Have a feeling a bullet might be bit and he goes to the Emirates for 45 million.

Offer him on loan to Real for a year, with an option to buy for £35m next year. Take the hit - it's better than him going to Arsenal after all this.

This post reminds me of Aquilani! So much about that 20 mil fee.

Still fuming about this, the jobs cost, the club put through drama after drama, just want rid and someone ( two hopefully) new to keep the club moving forward in the right direction and light.

How about we loan you Suarez and you loan us 2 players - options both ways at a price to be agreed.

Except they'll never pay the 35mill; they'll do what all Italian clubs do and send him back to us and/or renegotiate a lower price. Look how we did with offloading Aquilani. Loans to buy don't work.

With each passing day I feel more and more stupid for ever defending him.

It was a hard line man, there was a lot of staunch defending of him but when you follow the paper trail it just hard to miss. The lying is what is eating at me...... what happened to I want out of Britain/ENgland? What happened to the media hate me? Completely changed his tune. Delfina is an anagram for Anfield? Is it ****....

After the whole Torres situation I never took anything he said seriously anyhow, but the way he's going about it really is a low blow.
