Generally where they wanted to go in the first place <whistle>

Tevez wanted to go to Juve did he? <whistle>

Can't really think of many others off the top of my head. The only one I can think of is from years ago, Pierre Van Hoiijdonk at Nottm Forest!

Which is the exact opposite of what you said - when a player wants to leave it never ends well. You were quick to point out at the time about the shirt burning yet now you're trying to say cos that one ended well it doesn't count?

Another one who seemingly can't comprehend simple English. <doh>

Try reading it again & this time focus on this particular sentence "I still think it's an unhealthy situation & unless they totally change their minds & sign a new deal etc, I can't think of one instance where a player kept against his wishes has ended well."

<ok>

Now now, play nicely Tobes.
What if Suarez has a change of heart and signs a new deal then?
And what if he has a further change of heart next year and wants to move again?
The point is we can all indulge in idle speculation but none of us are in his head( thank god), so stating opinions with assurance is meaningless.

Calm down there tobes.

Sweet jesus, this anti Liverpool stuff really gets you going.

You worry about Everton keeping their players<ok>

**** Suarez and what he thinks, he's bound by contract, one which he extended last year.

Still no transfer request and you are wrong no we should not just sell to Arsenal, better to lose 10 mil than strengthen those looking for CL spots in the top 4 which could conceivably cost is more than 10m

Losing the 10 mil on his fee is a massive IF

So basically, in short: "its unhealthy unless it isn't"

<whistle>

Because keeping a player who's made it obvious he wants to move on, is never a clever move imo.

They can be disruptive behind the scenes, create divisions in the camp & look to undermine the manager - even if they put in a shift on the pitch, I still think it's an unhealthy situation & unless they totally change their minds & sign a new deal etc, I can't think of one instance where a player kept against his wishes has ended well.

No, simple really, unhealthy unless they change their minds.

Any sign of that happening?

Thought not.

Since I've not got Luis contact details to hand, I'm going to say no idea. Feel free to find quotes from Suarez saying he is unhappy <ok>

If he agreed a new deal, then he'd be committing himself to staying & would therefore have mentally accepted that fact & indeed welcomed it, by re-affirming his commitment.

What happens a year or 2 down the road is irrelevant to that point in time & the particular season that's about to start.

Not one single quote, the only think he's said is he wants to go to Madrid.

I don't think we'd stop him either, he knows that. He's a contracted pro, the club are right in this course of action.

it would be hilarious if the majority of what we've been reading and discussing was in fact media fabrication<laugh>

Surely that doesn't happen, the press can only report facts and not just any old thing they make up? <laugh>

It seems my view is in line with what a couple of Anfield legends think btw, you carry on though <ok>

“The thing about keeping unhappy players is an issue because we had that experience with Torres, and keeping him definitely wasn’t the right thing to do,” he told Sky Sports.

How do you know?

The press have been full of stories saying he's changed his mind mate......oh wait......

Maybe gibbing off Gerrards testimonial dinner suggests that he's about to change his mind mate, how stupid of me, you win.

Tobes, question....

We kept Torres even though he wanted out ( think he regretted that the minute he saw how Woy was going to play him) but did it end well in terms of the fee? What we did with the fee was stupid but getting 50 mil for him was surely good business for a player who was unhappy?

Bit about Torres is bollox<laugh>

he said himself he was staying at the start of the season, then put in a transfer request in jan. We kept him during the time the transfer couldn't happen

Because Barnes was such a wonderful manager.

The guy was brilliant on the field but knows **** all about running a club or team.

Selling Suarez isn't the problem, its for how much money and to who. Just because Arsenal come in with a frankly insulting bid (the £1 is an insult) doesn't mean we should sell. If R Madrid come in with a bid of £55mil+, thats when the club might have to listen

I maintain that we don't know the reasons behind his absence so it would be unfair to read into that. His wife is about 8 months pregnant I believe so may be he was looking after her? Just speculating of course.
