Krul and Treacy Hope this one is true. Krul is a very good Goalie, IMHO. Not seen him live but I've always been impressed with his saves (of which he has had to make quite a few) when he's been on MOTD. As for Treacy, I said in January we should make a bid for him. He was certainly one of the very best attacking wide players in the Championship last season, even playing in a relegated side. The only problem is the truth!! Not sure how Krul fits in with Eilhoff, Guzan and Mannone (although I suspect our interest in Mannone is waning). Also I reckon there will be a lot of interest in Treacy which doesn't fit in with our bargain basement approach. Ah well, at least it's news!!
They'd both be good, but they'd both cost money, Treacy is probably not daft money, but several clubs were rumoured to be looking at Krul for about £3m. I saw an Arsenal fan recently, saying he'd been talking to the keeper coach and Mannone is being moved up the pecking order.
Must say after his injuries proneness last season and the form he displayed on his return (I'll never forget that Donny game ) I'd rather have a more dependable keeper.
Mannone is very much like most keepers who come from Europe they will have the odd blip, they look to punch at every oppurtunity and they have their crazy moments but look at Reina at Liverpool he has as many of these blips as anybody yet he is still classed as one of the best keepers in the PL. I am not saying Mannone is in that league as he isn't but i am saying keepers from the continent are very rarely 'dependable'.
Krul is a quality keeper and I could see us going for him. As said though he will cost about 3mil and will we spend that much on a keeper? Treacy is another top player and just what we need but I highly doubt he will want to come to us when premiership and higher rated championship clubs are going for him! but you never know!
Would very much prefer Krul to any other goalkeeper we've been linked with. Treacy would be nice as well, but i doubt we'll get them, i don't know why.
surely there's no truth in the krul thing. as far as i'm aware (and my newcastle supporting mates) they think of him as their longer term number 1. or certainly hope he will go on to be. treacy is one i thought there'd be a link with. i rate him and certainly think he could do a job.
ah ok. so there is possibly as much in this as there was/is about Paul MaShane moving to Real Madrid on a free? Just something a friend of a friend told me!
If you use the link in the original post you will find it's is from Vital Football. Like I said, the only problem here is the unlikelihood or otherwise of it being true.
Neither Adebola or Howard just relegated from the Championship. Treacy is someone I mentioned on Tiger Chat a week or so ago. Saw him have a decent game for Rep Of Ireland against Northern Ireland Juniors. I think he's a good, strong left winger with good delivery. Doesn't look the fittest and I reckon he's pretty lazy which is why Phil Brown isn't in love with him. Krul is a pipe dream, unless he's going out on loan. Fraser Forster would be more realistic from Newcastle. Personally, I'd be in the phone to Marcus Hahnemann this morning. Oddly, you can take the entire heart of the defence of Reading's Championship winning team from 2006 for free right now. Hahnemann, Sonko and Ingermarsson. Let's have Sonko back!
I think Treacy is a possible, he's a decent player at a club who've just been relegated, so there's a reasonable chance, I think Krul's a non-starter. As for Adebola, I think it probably is a done deal.
