No, I wouldn't say that, I've liked virtually all of his signings. It's what he does with them that makes me gag.
I quite like Surman, thought he had some decent games for us and looked useful at times, but I think some people are way over-egging what he offered to the team. He used to go missing in games far too often for my liking for him to be that important, sometimes I'd hardly see him having a kick before being taken off so I get a bit confused at some of the praise and hero worship that is often heaped n him. Good championship player, not good enough to be a premiership regular, I hope he does well at Bournemouth
Surely you have to wait to see them against Everton on the first day of the season before you can say Hughton is playing them wrong?
Carrabuh, I've always quite liked your posts in the past, it showed a a different and interesting point of view to most other people. You are starting to loose appeal to me a bit as it is getting realy negative now, we havent even kicked a competitive ball with our new signings and you are already writing them off, along with Hughton. Its starting to get a bit silly now.
He's different to what we have Munky, he'd only disappear if he had to run around after the ball because he's physically weak. When the ball was at his feet, that ball stayed within his bubble when he ran, lovely technique. He's just hopeless at winning the ball back and stretching players with movement because he's so slow. He's no counter attacker in terms of running forward, but he can play people in much better than the likes of Pilkington, Bennett and I'd guess Redmond, probably even better than Hoolahan for it. He's one of my favourites, I'm very sad to see him go.
Despite just saying I've liked virtually all of his signings. I don't think you'll find that many bad comments about the players if you actually read through what I write, apart from E Bennett who I think is truly bland.
Seems like Liverpool have made a deal with Benfica to loan defender Melgarejo for this season. This would cancel out a potential club for Alderweireld me thinks.
The impression I've gotten with Alderweireld is he will stay at Ajax. Just my gut feeling. Would love to get him though. Him and Bass would be a very classy CB pairing.
I'd love him here, it's alot of money to strengthen our strongest position though, however if it means only one DM and freedom for the midfield I'm all for it.
He is a proper ball playing centre back. He is great at playing out from the back and is calm and composed on the ball. Would be massive step up. Just think we could do with a creative midfielder a bit more to be honest.
Well, I'd say with each option that disappears for Alderweireld your chances improve. Still a long shot but stranger things have happened this summer.
He doesn't want to stay at Ajax he has already rejected an offer of an extension. He wants first team football as the world cup is coming up, we are perfect for him.
Toby and Bass with Fer infront of them would awesome. though I think most of our CB pairings with Fer infront would be able to handle most teams. I certainly prefer a 1 DM, 2 AM formation with one of RvW or Hooper upfront. If you have 2 of Hooper, RvW, Wes, Howson or Redmond in those AM positions then I reckon plenty of chances would be created, whether with short balls in the middle of the park or spreading the play out to the wings, it's a formation that allows for quick counter aswell as possession football. The only issue is having 1 DM and your wide men need to put in a lot of work, but they'll be use to that.
Depends what you mean by creative midfielder, I think we desperately need someone in the centre to create through passing, and not an attacking midfielder in a Hoolahan or Howson role. I personally don't think Fer has been brought in to do that. I expect that ball will continue to go wide early, especially to Redmond.
What I mean is a forward player technically gifted that can pass long range and has that spark and vision in the middle of the park to spot runs, thread passes through and cause issues. Also a player that is comfortable in possession and is intelligent with it. Hard to find, but every good team has one. I quite like berbatov, even tough comes across a bit lazy he is class and his decision making is brilliant.
Why the emphasis on long range? you get far more success with a shorter pass and its just as viable for counter attack providing your players move. Its very rare you'll get success with a long pass direct to a winger to cross and score. Plus its **** to watch. As for Berbatov, the bloke has the best control I've ever seen in the Premiership.
Believe it or not, the one player who I've seen who comes close is Wet sHam's new signing (!)... Razvan Rat. He was class, I don't know if he still is. Berbatov is in another dimension.
