Liverpool's Luis Suárez stays clear of outside help over transfer ⢠Premier League not involved in possible Arsenal move ⢠Liverpool insist they have 'no obligation to sell' striker Luis Suárez in action for Liverpool Arsenal had hoped Luis Suárez would agitate for a transfer once they had triggered a clause in his Liverpool contract. Photograph: Stanley Chou/Getty Images Luis Suárez has not requested Premier League intervention in his contract dispute with Liverpool, one week on from Arsenal's club record bid of £40,000,001 for the Uruguay international. Arsenal had hoped the 26-year-old would agitate for a move from Anfield once they triggered what Suárez and his representatives believed to be a release clause in his contract. But, aside from telling Liverpool that he wants Champions League football next season, the striker has not sought outside assistance from the Premier League over the transfer. Liverpool maintain the clause entitles Suárez to be informed only of any offer over £40m and for the club to enter discussions with the bidding party should it wish to do so. Suárez could refer the matter to a Premier League regulatory commission, or his lawyers, but the organisation has not been approached by the striker or his representatives. A Liverpool source said: "We've all examined the clause in detail. All it obliges is good faith negotiations about Luis's future. There is absolutely no obligation to sell and that is very clear." http://www.theguardian.com/football/2013/jul/30/liverpool-luis-suarez-transfer-arsenal?
Well that must be a relief to wenger, bet he was sweating at Liverpool calling his bluff and making him spend all that money. Wonder what the arsenal fans will have to say to that,? They were talking the other day as if it was a done deal... So I guess now it will be Real or no one and that will depend on what happens with Bale. For the first time I can see him staying but what will he give us. He hasn't looked happy in his last 2 brief appearances but that could be for a number of reasons.
Quite an eventful night! Good news for a change - Suarez and his team won't challenge the clause but that doesn't mean that he himself won't push for a move ...
means legal advice told him to stop. which means the clause is in our favour is all. 40mil triggers talk not sale. like it said 1 week after bid..... nothing. they've not even leaked him talking to arsenal so.... ball in arsenal's court. up your bid... significantly.
I think they'll move on now - I would imagine they thought if they could get him for £40m + £1 then it's a bargain, play him for a season and flog him to RM next year for £50m+ In RM hands now - maybe if they fail to get Bale and then come sniffing, Suarez will have second thoughts as he wasn't their number 1 target? Who knows.
How did arsenal think they knew there was a 40m+ release clause? Have they been speaking to his agent prior to making any bids?
It's been all over the media from day one so that would be their excuse I guess but more than likely his agent has been slagging about.
Now Spurs are supposedly after Suarez if they get £100m+ for Bale. I rate Suarez higher than Bale anyway. Suarez is proven at club and international level and has performed for a number of years. Bale has had one good season and most of the best games he has had have been against lower prem opposition. He is good but not £85m + good that would rate him higher than Ronaldo, Neymar, etc and probably second only to Messi. Levy should snatch the £85m and run. If Bale has an average year next year or a serious injury he will be £20m at most.
If spurs get their fee no matter what it is we want 55mil. if we get that anyone can have him cos frankly in a year he'll be agitating for his big move again. bales had 3 good years btw... of continued progress but he's not worth more than 55mil. just is not! the issue with bale is he could repeat the back injury and be out and when the WC comes around be the forgotten guy. if real really do actually bid then its a decision. allthe rest is idle speculation which real want to happen. they want someone to break. bale shows no ambition in my mind as he signed new deals at spurs etc.. wants for some reason spurs to be in the cl etc etc. nothing about winning gongs. levy won't break either.
The rumours I have heard is he will stick with us for another year but will go if we dont get champions league. He wants to go to Real but they wont pay what we want for him and has no interest in English clubs. There is also another one where he will sign another contract to put him on the same wages as Gerrard. No idea if any of it is true.
I seriously doubt that money is his prime motivation, tbh. I think he wants to play at the top, which is why- with all due respect to them- I don't think Arsenal is the club for him.
He can leave whenever he wants to leave....there is no point giving him another contract unless he agrees to see out the contract. Next season he is likely to agitate for a move again.
I think if we hold him and he plays well with a view to attracting real AND plays a great WC we can sell then, even with him i think top 4 is not happening for us.
The new contract will be to keep his value up next year he will only have 2 years left wont he so his value will decrease.
It's another thread but I totally disagree with your assessment of our possibilities this year. If for no other reasons then there are so many changes at clubs and in teams that there are NO certainties this season. However, we do have a developing team that have a season's experience under their belt.
