So in other words, you've contradicted yourself. Brendan Rodgers signed Allen and Borini, so the board felt he had to be supervised, yet you think he's capable of spending 50 million wisely.
With the boards help, yes. If we didn't have the committee in place then I'd be inclined to agree with you on the fact that we'd likely end up spending the £50m on such ****, there's only one way to find out, give us the £50m for Suarez and we'll see what we spend it on.
Because of the Euro's and Olympics!, it was also before BR had met most of the squad, never met assessed the players. Edit: I don't agree with most Liverpool fans with their view on the committee. I think the above is the reason there is such a difference between last summer and January. I also think the committee is there to assist BR rather than anything else. I'd guess that BR needs their backing to be able to sign anyone but he has the final say on any transfer activity; ie if says yes then it could happen, if he says no then it doesn't.
Or maybe he needs the committe because he's highly incompetant when it comes to player recruitment, and the board have no faith in his scouting ability? Look at the players Swansea signed when he was in charge, in comparison to the players they signed under Laudrup, Martinez, even Sousa.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2013/jul/28/newcastle-lyon-baftimbi-gomis 'Baby' Drogba? He is 27 years old, FFS.
When we chicken out of the Suarez deal? Should i get Gomis/(insert other french strikers) on the new shirt ready?
The Mirror are reporting that Capoue is stalling on a move to Cairdiff http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/footb...s-etienne-capoue-2090362#.UfWVdqWEqbE.twitter
M'Vila mk.2 it seems. Everyone raves about him but it turns out managers and scouts feel differently. If Toulouse are happy getting £9m for him then it speaks volumes also.
Wanyama was the same. Wenger gets berated for not signing these guys but it has to be conceded that he and his team of scouts know far more about (and are better trained at assessing) these guys than we can hope to be. That's not to say they don;t make mistakes from time to time.
Most people based their views Wanyama because he played well for Celtic against Barcelona.I remember some people saying we should have gone in for some of the players Newcastle bought in the January transfer window. All I need now is for someone to tell me what position Newcastle finished in the league
