I agree Arsenal are the better team and have been for 3 years or so since Hicks/Gilette nearly sunk us. People forget we nearly went pop. But stats don't lie. You don't win things. You're set up to be milked by your owners by being successful enough. Not reaching your full potential. That's why I struggle with Suarez motivations. It would be an improvement but it's doesn't guarantee trophies. I think he's waiting for Real.
I think he's a bit of a selfish **** who is only out for himself and not too bothered about anyone else. I do think he has enjoyed his time at Liverpool though. I think the racism thing was blown out of proportion and i think the biting etc comes from being overly competitive and having a bit of a mean streak. He needs to work on his behaviour and on becomming a more professional football player. Whether he stays or comes to us he will still be a mean little **** who needs to work on his behaviour - but he would then be our mean little **** I also think he is an incredibly talented footballer. Not quite VanPersie when it comes to putting the ball in the back of the net but very rounded player who puts in a lot of effort and would improve most teams.
if anyone wants some evidence look to arsenal's record in rafa's time.. who was 3rd and 2nd... (and won two major trophies... one the biggest of ALL) while arsenal took 4th and such... Anyone taking a cheap shot at LFc does need to remember that this club was hours from administration and by extension disaster. Anything thorwn at us is water off a ducks back... Suarez is on his way back... no word from agent, no word from player, no word from lfc other than no... no word from real bar marca saying they are cool... thus i SUGGEST that anyone from arsenal on here camped needs to go back to their baord and wait from something real.
@bow4fowler - i'm afriad you are rather misinformed about the Arsenal owners/board. Our Owner takes a wage of about 20k a year and we have not paid out any dividends at all. The only owners who made any money are the ones who sold up there shares to our current owner. No money gets tkane out of our club at all. There is no master plan to milk money out of the club. The reason we haven't spent big hasbeen due to financial restrictions because of our newstadium. We aren ow in a position to spend again. And Madrid obviously are not interested - Arsenal ishis best bet at the moment an an obvious improvement - shouldnt be too difficult to understand his motivation He is still young enough that if he did very well with us he could make the step to Madrid later on once proving himself at the top.
Cant disagree with that. I remember not that long ago suggesting he's no different to anyone else and isn't especially loyal to Liverpool and got hammered!
@moreinjuredthanowen - look at your prem form at anytime you like - you've only finished above Arsenal on 3 occasions in 17 years, once by one point where we messed up (you lost more games than us but we drew a couple and handed you 3rd). So im not sure what your point is there buddy. I agree though about credit where its due for comming back from the brink.
He's like most footballers tbh - he enjoys the time he is spending with the club but ultimately has a short career and will do whats best for himself.
Fair enough on the owner thing. Thats how it comes across because everyone knows you have money but Wenger then goes and buys some young player for 5-10 million. But if that's because of the stadium then fine. You should be expecting lots of new players and improved wages for your current players then. Something doesn't quite add up to me. I think real aren't that just but will put a late bid at the end of the window which will tempt us if an agreement with arsenal hasn't already been agreed.
I would seriously question why he stayed which could be because his preferred team never made a bid. He made his feeling very clear which he would not have done if he realy was loyal.
So if Real don't bid and he turns down the Arsenal chance, won't you question why he turned Arsenal down?
If Suarez stays and puts on a smile and spouts ( " I never wanted to leave, I love LFC" it will only be because Real/Bayern/Barca/Milan etc did not come in for him. I will hope he gets us fourth or more but I won't be able to look at him the same way, the song won't mean the same, and after all the backing we gave him through his troubled times, I thought he would go about this a lot differently.
Did you? I think he has gone about it exactly as I thought he would. He looks a real miserable little prick on the pitch at the moment. I see no way back for him in our hearts but then again if he scored the winner against united to win the title I might forgive him! But I think he will go.
I seem to have a different opinion to just about everyone on this. I don't think he's done much wrong [not talking about the on-field antics]. I don't read papers or online gossip sites so just surf for info as and when. He sounded off to his home press about the English media and how he was singled out - that's correct. He said when asked, if Real came calling would he be interested, he said yes - that's not a surprise. If he goes now I think it will be because he's been reading not606 and what you all think of him
Other than leaving it ****ing last minute, I really can't remember Torres going out in public and just stating all his desires all the time? He even gave Roy 5 months!! Might have looked forlorn but he could have easily made a stink after the WC and got a move but at least tried. I don't know this is all just leaving such a sour taste and just wish Suarez would have gone about this all different. The amount of mud he drug the club through you would have thought he would have tried a different route. Another reason Pepe is a legend, even on his way out, he was quiet for the most part and went about it with some respect.
Pepe reina....different class. Legend ,will miss him Yeah Torres did stick around a bit but he sulked for most of it. Then let himself down even more with his comments afterwards. Suarez could have handled this much differently but given how he acts on the pitch we shouldn't be too suprised
afterwards not while it was going on. Still a ****, loved Torres too. All of this is why I no longer ( haven't done for years) get a player's name on my shirt no matter how good. I just find it funny that Suarez probably started all this showing that interest in Real and Real have gone and spent what 22 on Isco, 32 + on Illaramendi, and apparently bid 80 for bale. Nothing for Suarez. Shown they have the money so where is the bid and why was he so confident on it?
Look at the UK economic situation and the longest period of depression that we have suffered since 1927. Now look at price inflation for property in London since 2008. The ONLY example of a similar situation occurred in Tokyo and ended with a massive deflation of their housing market. The same is due for London. Just look at the economic evidence its all around you.
Q: What can you say about the repercussions [your statements had] on the international media? Suarez: "Every time I talk, it gets turned into something huge. I only said I'm very happy in Liverpool, I'll be forever grateful for the way the club and fans treated me. I love being there because it's a spectacular club and city, and I still have a contract there. I said it's hard to say no to Real Madrid because it's normal, you always dream about [being in] big teams. But I don't have anything yet, I haven't spoken neither to Real nor LFC, nobody, even my agent hasn't told me anything yet and that's what keeps me calm. What happens is that there have been speculations and that's why everything I say will be turned into something big."
