Where do the tabloids get their rumours these days? They've never been reliable but of late they've been reading into and using whatever some random lunatic posts on twitter. Actually let's all do a test lets make up a fictitious rumour about a player and a club then we all post it on twitter with the relevant hashtags, the next day it'll be the rumours section in the Sun/Mirror/Star/People/Mail
How about Odemwingie to Norwich? Is probably plausible to the outside world, but never going to happen.
What about Pacheco? His previous with us would make a nice lazy link for the press. Also it would fit our new identity as dogged pursuers of old targets.
True, but because we've already been linked with him this summer it would be difficult to know if it came from us.
True. I'm not sure if odemwingie would fit our profile though, and he's pretty active on twitter so could easily debunk it.
Hasn't Dani Pacheco already signed for a Spanish club this summer? To answer my own question. No, he is in talks to join Celta Vigo on yet another loan.
I had to smile, Tony Fernandes just tweeted a thinly veiled moan about 'Arry! Not talked about people coming in! No point, wait until they're in then talk asbout them!
I google 'Norwich transfer rumours' from time to time, just to see what pops up. There are some pretty hilarious ones sometimes, but one site in particular has something of interest the site is www.footballtransferleague.co.uk. Each club has its own page and each page has a rumour accuracy table (incoming and outgoing) listing the number of rumours each paper/website/broadcaster has published and how many are actually correct. Admittedly it's not the most up to date site (it still has Jacko as one of ours) but the table makes interesting reading. The Norwich one currently looks like this: Daily Record 3/6 (50%) Daily Telegraph 2/5 (40%) The Express 3/8 (37.5%) Sky Sports 1/3 (33.3%) Daily Star 7/26 (26.9%) The Guardian 1/4 (25%) Daily Mail 6/26 (23.1%) Daily Mirrior 14/61 (23%) The Sun 8/36 (22.2%) The Times 1/10 (10%) Footy Latest, The People 0/2 Footy Bunker, Talksport, The Independent 0/3 News of the World 0/4 Certainly backs up Northampton's suspicions that the tabloids are just throwing anything out there in the hope that if they make enough guesses one of them will be right. Also, it back's up what we've all known all along and that's that Talksport know bugger all.
I usually look at Sky Sports usually find them reliable and obviously this site is great for information, will always run a search through newsnow but that's a bit of punt as it brings up everything, I certainly don't trust newspapers, twitter or talksports though. Cheers Dazz will have to check that site out though.
So what are we picking? We need a candidate. Once we have one, a couple of ITK tweets and any old photo of them in a restaurant identified as somewhere in Norwich, followed by a couple of messages welcoming him to Norwich should do it!
Some time ago I suggested we set up our own football rumours blog site, with every regular on here tasked to create fake rumours for it. I recall Thai offering to do the SEO and set up the advertising income stream. I think someone else was vaguely interested too. But hey ho, who has the time, and we probably wouldn't even generate enough profit to buy dave a bottle of malt.
That could be a goer, but I think as the twitter accounts of people who will play along will be Norwich ones, we'd be better of making it a norwich based transfer rumour. More plausible ITK's then
That sounds good. I think we've moved on and up now, but a good fit for the old plucky norwich attitude in the press still!
