Are you mentally stable?

No offense but we've rejected a bid above that and have demanded 50mil+ for a slim chance of you signing him.

Personally Id rather sell to Madrid for 40mil than to Arsenal for 50mil....All your eggs seem to be in one basket. Whereas we've already signed some great (but unproven PL players) and also have the possibility of the Suarez money to splash out on.

It's pretty much a win win situation for Liverpool as we signed Suarez about 2 years ago for 23mil. So double bubble for us :)

People talk about how we must sell early to get a replacement. But I think we have already invested in forwards, and Coutinho is the closest in terms of creativity, just because we bought him six months ago rather than in 3 weeks from now doesn't change that.

So if we get to the final day of the transfer and Arsenal still haven't spent, then I think Wenger will be destroyed by fan reaction ("we can challenge with the current squad" <laugh> ) if he doesn't increase his bid, even if it means paying £55m.

Liverpool's main weakness for me is their forward line. They need a better striker, Suarez is not able to lead the line on his own, he's not that kind of player. Studge is great though. Borini is painful average. Aspas untested. Beyond that, there is not much else.

Sturridge is far from great. I'd place him in the Welbeck category, extremely average. He just looks decent cause the rest of the team can't play football.

I still can't believe such a poor side like Liverpool are so arrogant. It still boggles the mind. I know that Arsenal are below par too. But how can they talk about Arsenal? Horribly misplaced arrogance.

Just came across this comment on their board:

In fact I think we have similar problems in that we have good attacking players such as Sturridge, Giroud, Suarez, Walcott and Coutinho but we bot have lightweight midfielders and defenders who cant actually defend. As things stand I see very little between the teams in terms of quality of players. Suarez moving might change that but it wont solve their problems in midfield or defense."

Don't know what to say tbh.

I'm incredibly bored at the moment and that thread was entertaining me!

Just because your bored of a thread doesn't mean it should be locked for everyone else - your job as a mod is to stop people being offensive, clear up any spam articles or obvious wums and keep it lovely and shiny around here! By all means encourage people back onto a topic but don't just go and close it because you don't want it open.

Mate, this board would be dead without this thread. I know there is not much development on the Suarez front today, but it's a Saturday so that's hardly a surprise. So i am going to re-open it. <whistle>

We have bought some attackers for that reason. Whether or not they will be good enough remains to be seen, so at the moment I consider our forward line more of a question than a weakness. The CDM/CB area is where I think we are weak.

I personally think we're fine in those areas, with the likes of Kelly, Wisdom, Sama, Toure, Agger, Skrtel, Coates for CB. For CDM we have Lucas, Gerrard, Alberto, Henderson and a few others that are fully capable of that role...I would like to see Agger given a chance at CDM as he's solid has a great passing range and loves to push forward when given the chance.

It wasn't locked because I was bored with it.The thread had just become "my dad's bigger than your dad" <ok>
If you are incredibly bored may I suggest to you find a hobby or go out and get a girlfriend <whistle>

Because even in our current state we are still making finals and winning trophies. If your mind is boggled it is because you are in the unique position of supporting the only club in the world that thinks budget sheets and qualification rounds are comparable to trophies in the cabinet. That's some heavy cognitive dissonance for the human brain to handle.

So anyway - it seems Madrid have not given up there pursuit of Bale - whether him leaving is good or bad for tottenham, what it does mean is Suarez is not a main transfer target for Madrid.

I genuinely think at the moment we are the only team in for him - everyone else has other targets they would rather go for. Thats quite important because Suarez will be looking at us as his best option on top of whatever financial package we put together for him which will be more than Liverpool are paying him.

As long as Suarez has his heart set on Arsenal and we are willing to spend some cash i can see this transfer going through. I really don't think Liverpool will hold out for £50mil though. They have already brought in attacking options and i think considering Suarez reputation and him wanting out they would rather have the cash for strengthening other areas of the squad. Liverpool are just trying to make sure they get whatever they can for him, especially considering how much they managed for Torres. It's about reputation - not keeping Suarez.

@gooncym - plenty of hobbies and a gf who takes up far too much time :P - I just happen to be bored at this particular moment in time.

Just FYI we are currently paying Suarez £120k pw + bonuses

Which is why we should make another bid for Suarez, soon. Because once Madrid sort out the Bale situation, they could turn their attentions to Suarez, and in that case we would be ****ed.

No offence. I know you're a moderator and whatnot. And I respect that. But closing threads on a whim, just cause you're bored of this thread? Maybe you should ask the other posters.
