It actually means OK![]()
Sorry, I know I'm probably dumb, but OK in what sense? OK can mean a hundred different things according to context and how you say it. I think I'll just avoid using it. But thanks for your reply.

It's meant to be a positive affirmative response!

Takes himself seriously? Pots - kettles ..... Plenty of them here. In fact apart fom carrabuh I can barely think of anyone who doesn't!![]()
Point taken. I think I over-react to Superman's rather imperious manner because I've always felt a bit of an outsider on this board. I often consider stopping using it, but about 50% of the matches I can only get on a very bad stream and I like to hear from people who actually go to the matches to see what they say about our performance.
How old were you when you took that job fella, I got the impression you were only about 30 now so you must have been a relative pup working under Worthy.
I really liked the guy for the first three years or so, always agreed with his team selections and he brought us out of the doldrums for a short time after several years of **** and brought some great players to the club such as Hucks, Ashton, Gary Holt etc. He did lose the plot through towards the end, and some of his later signings were dreadful and it was probably right for him to go when he did, keeping most of his integrity intact.
Never really worked out for him anywhere else so I hope he does ok with York this season![]()
Thanks to both of you. I think I'll stay clear of the emoticons. At my age they can be deadly.

i started late 2001 and left in early 2005 during our premier league campaign. i won't lie, i was lucky to have a route into football - most people don't have the route i had. and don't get me wrong, worthington did a bloody good job on limited resources at city, he really did, but his formula behind the scenes wound people up and although it didn't affect me personally, i know people who found him impossible to approach. he lost the plot during our season in the premier league and it was a slippery slope from then on. he should probably have been sacked after the fulham game but the club left it and left it and left it until it was at least a year too late, probably two. he had very few allies when i left so i dread to think how bad it was 18 months later! i know there were lots of issues behind the scenes. i'll always be grateful for the way he turned the club around though - we were a complete shambles under hamilton and he almost instantly changed that and you're right, there was a spell during our promotion season where we were great to watch. the promotion season and the play off final were both great times but unfortunately i always remember him as the man who was making enemies everywhere he turned.
just put me on the ignore list - best way if i annoy you. i won't mind!

as a psuedo-signature for precisely that reason, it's context dependant. Very useful!

That's interesting to know. I never guessed at the time that he was making so many enemies. In public he always looked so calm and collected. I remember seeing something on TV which talked about the four relegation candidates that season and how the body language of Worthington suggested that we would stay up at the expense of the other three. Just shows how you can get a totally wrong impression from seeing something on the media, I suppose.
I'd never put you on the ignore list - you, Robbie and Carrabuh are the most interesting posters on here as far as I'm concerned.
I'm not offended!

Not at all dumb vietnam, absolutely correct -- do you maybe teach English over there? I useas a psuedo-signature for precisely that reason, it's context dependant. Very useful!

Yes, I teach English. And your recent post on the thread about whether Hughton will change his tactics is a perfect example of what I mean. You finish with a thumbs up, but I don't understand it at all. It's a very well-argued addition to the thread, but shouldn't other people give the thumbs up? Guess I'm old.At least I think I can manage that emoticon!
I ALWAYS finish with a thumbs up. In some contexts you can think of it like saying "OK mate" when you've deliberately kicked someone in the groin; in others when you've put a comforting arm round their shoulders! And yes, my use of
completely defeats the purpose of emoticons -- intentionally.

I'm not offended!
I agree with you actually, I'm very surprised that more people haven't worked carrabuh out, when I first really noticed him on the now defunct "12 Yards" we used to have some real ding-dongs, carrabuh takes criticism on the chin and is always prepared to back his arguments with an explanation! He's not always right though, even though he'll tell you different!![]()
