i suppose its somewhat ironic that an article named 'evolution' has evolved into an article talking about 'monkeys'...
When did you change your signature? FAOD, I called the dialogue Act 1 Scene 1 on the basis that others could contribute other scenes...
Carrbuh - I've found the perfect signature for you: "... my concern is that we coaches do not arrogate to ourselves the right to remove from the spectacle the synonym of festival⦠⦠rather I believe that efficacy is not divorced from beauty." César Luis Menotti
Signatures are part of the on-going debate on the forum. General Melchett and I, for example, have been engaged in humorous exchanges for several weeks, our disagreements on various threads notwithstanding . Incidentally, I don't know how true to the courtroom facts the film about the trial of Oscar Wilde was, but it contained a marvellous example of a witty remark swaying a jury: Counsel for the Defence: Mr Wilde, did you ever kiss the witness? [a manservant called by the prosecution who claimed to have been kissed by Wilde] Wilde: having turned to look at the witness "Never Sir .... [pause] ....he's far too ugly".
Menotti overlooked the fact that this quote can be interpreted in exactly the opposite way to what he intended, i.e. as saying there is beauty in efficiency. What could be more beautiful than a perpetual motion machine?
