    Major transfers? ..Like Carroll?

Really? I think your confusing price with Quality. If I pay £180 quid for Primark jeans that does'nt suddenly make them Commes De Garcons.

As for Arsenal - Robin Van Persie, Lukas Podolski, Santi Carzorla, Cesc Fabregas, Samir Nasri etc.. Have all come or gone in recent years. All 'major' transfers.

From what I understand of the contract. It is if a club bids 40mn+ Liverpool have to inform Suarez (that is all Liverpool feels it's obligation, as stipulated in the contract, is). Suarez and his agent feel that any offer over 40mn+ allows him to hold talks with the club ( this is where the dispute is as the way the two parties see the clause). There is apparently no buy out clause. From the looks of things it seems Suarezs argument won as the BBC reports he can talk to us without Arsenal having a bid accepted. However Liverpool have no obligation to accept any bid.

The advantage for us I guess is if the talks go well Suarez can hand in a transfer request or engineer a move towards us, so maybe we can get him. However it is important to note that Liverpool have no obligation to accept any bid.

  7. That's what I understand from I've read too. Either way, Liverpool does not have to accept £40,000,001 and the only question mark that remains is whether Suarez can speak to Arsenal or not <ok>

You also forget that Liverpool are under no obligation to accept a transfer request from Suarez either. It really is a matter of Arsenal ****ting or getting off the pot - offer in excess of £50 million or withdraw. It really is that simple.

    At best, arsenal sign him

At worse, Real Madrid sign him, and Liverpool will no longer be top 4 contenders.

So how are your owners going to rectify the 40 million pound loss in your last set of financial accounts?

I dont like the fact Wenger seems to be hedging all his bets on one forward. (and Liverpool dont seem keen to sell)

Surely £40 Million would buy Rooney?

If Fellaini really has a £22m buyout clause why haven't we bought him and Higuain for a combined outlay of £56.5m???

I suppose we don't actually need Fellaini though because Diaby coming back will be like a new signing...

Our owners have under-written the clubs debts with interest free no term loans. Look more closely at our last set of published figures and you will find that the £40 million figure is far from being a problem - the majority of it arises from accounting devices to write-off the costs of the old stadium plans ie 1 off costs

Where do I assume you will accept it. Just said he can hand one in and talk up Arsenal to help engineer a move. Which always lowers the price of a player if he does get sold (like players before him have done and after him will do).

Sure but I can understand why we didnt go for Higuian. Real Madrid being complete douchebags as always.

I would like Fellaini though he would be an excellent signing - but I would prefer Luis Gustavo.

Now I know that corporate financial statements can be very difficult to fathom but I'm sure you can find somebody who can interpret them for you. In respect of LFC's last financial statements it is quite clear what the 'loss' consists of.

So most of the loss is one of payments, yet the results the season before also showed a loss.
