Is that a BIGGER jump than non-CL to CL club?

I'd say no, it's a big deal for the player of course, but not playing CL for a top player is in effect footballing wilderness.

Arsenal aren't a million miles from competing in England, and if they get Suarez and a couple more, they could be close this season.

Add in the stadium, the fact they are debt free, billionaire backed, London based, and it is a massive step up, despite Liverpool's great history.

Yes, those clubs challenge for titles!

Arsenal IS a step up from Liverpool (at present) but to say there isn't a bigger step up is ridiculous.

Got nothing against the Pool' and they have some of the most passionate fans in the country, but at the moment they are a long way off of Arsenal, if we get Suarez off of them, it will be the final nail in the coffin as far as them being our rivals.

Or maybe it's the fact that i loathe your silly little part of the country, and the false sense of superiority you twats have over everyone else, just because you won stuff back in 1486

Why the dislike to me then? It clearly states where I am from on the right <doh>

Edit: of course, by 'right', I mean left <laugh>

Second edit: And if I'm not mistaken, we've won something since you last did <doh> (you brought up history, not me)

I don't think it is ridiculous.

A player will sign for a club that isn't champions for Champions League football.

On your basis, you saying Ronaldo going from Madrid to Barca is a massive leap for him? Is it ****!

But if he was going from Valencia in 5th to Atletico in 3rd, he'd be in the CL and that would be massive for him, even though Valencia is a huge club in it's own right.

Going from Real to Barca isn't the same at all and you know it! They are arguably two of the top three clubs in the world right now.

Arsenal have not won anything since the FA Cup in 2005? That's eight years. Real and Barca have both won trophies in the last couple of years including league titles!

As I said, Arsenal IS a step up on Liverpool but there are bigger step ups. Like it or not, going to a club like Man Utd that wins something most years is a bigger step up than Arsenal. Going to Real, Barca or Bayern is as big a step as anyone can make at the minute IMO.

Yes, but I would say playing CL is a bigger leap than going from CL every year and winning a title.

When we sold you Mignolet, we were universally disappointed for the lad, as we felt he should have went to a CL club, indeed, we all said he should wait for Arsenal.

Arsenal, like or lump, go in the bracket with Chelsea, Milan, Juve etc as the top clubs in Europe.

United, Real & Barca, now Bayern, league of their own, but the step up from Liverpool to Arsenal is ****ing enormous.

The step up from Arsenal to United is more 'big'

I'm starting to get to the point of he can go to wherever and I don't really care as long as he goes and is no longer our problem. Sometimes you have to think of the club and we've already given this man way to much support.

We will still be the same club without him, some would say better off. You may be better with him when it comes to a higher league position or an extra round of the Champions League but you are going to have to sell your soul as a football supporter.

You can buy a hell of a partner for Sturridge with £40million. One that wants to be at the club.

But the comment I originally responded to was about there no being a bigger step up than to Arsenal. I agree that going from Liverpool to Arsenal is an improvement but I was arguing against it being impossible to make a bigger step. You've kind of just agreed with me above <ok>

PS...apologies because I was talking to you like you was an Arsenal from and I have just noticed your signature picture <laugh>
