Wherever I look, all I see is snide, hypocritical and ignorant comments by Liverpool fans saying it's not much of a step up. Liverpool fans for the past couple of seasons have been pulling their hair out over the fact that they don't have Champions League football, and they know first and foremost that it's now required for them to make any sort of step forward for the future of the club. So how can it be said that Arsenal, a club that has consistently managed to qualify for this prestigious competition for the last 16 years, aren't a step up, or that Liverpool are marginally close. If they were marginally close to us, they would be Tottenham, because Tottenham were marginally close to us last season, that's the definition of marginally close - 1 point. Not 12.

What stil makes it such a ludicrous claim is that we can all see the ambition being shown by Arsenal in the form of a £40 million bid being made for their best player, a player all season long they claimed was the best forward in league, at the end of the season they claimed he deserved the PFA Player of the Year Award, indicating that they thought he was the best overall player in the league; if Suarez were to join Arsenal, surely a player of his quality would bring Arsenal a greater stance in the footballing world, a player of his calibre would surely propel us up the table by at least, say, an extra 9 or 12 points, firmly putting us in contention for the title, surely a player of this calibre would help us foray deeper into the Champions League? This is the ambition that Arsenal are selling to Suarez, this is what's turning his head, much like what PSG have done with the likes of Ibrahimovic, Thiago Silva, Javier Pastore; much like what Monaco are doing with Falcao, Joao Moutinho, James Rodriguez and Jeremy Toulalan; and more knowingly to us Premier League fans with Manchester City and the vast field of top quality players they acquired.

Not only is this part of the vision that is making Suarez stand up and say - Hold on, I'm all most in the prime of my career and I have nothing to show for it apart from a Copa America medal, maybe I should reassess and find a club that will suit my needs - There's more to it, Arsenal want to strengthen midfield with a big name, the no.1 candidate being Fabregas, which would further push Arsenal towards glory.

Then there's the stupid comparisons between the teams, two teams that finished a wide distance apart, yet there's talk of certain players from Liverpool being able to break into the Arsenal team, players like Coutinho, Lucas and Agger, no disrespect to them, all good players, none would get into the Arsenal team though, and I'd be willing to bet my keyboard on that! The only player that can get into the Arsenal is the one that we're trying to sign. One team will now go on to strengthen heavily in the next month or so, the other will weaken, as it all ready has by replacing Reina with Mignolet.

This is how things stand from my point of view, Liverpool aren't close to us, they're not closing in on us, they're not a threat to us, and for them to think so is absurd. Have some respect.

Arsenal are in the Champions League.

There isn't a bigger step up in football.

Of course there is. Arsenal or Barcelona? Arsenal or Real Madrid? Arsenal or Bayern Munich? Arsenal or Man Utd? (that one hurts me never mind you!)

He's seemed alright in the past, but now he seems a bit pissed off?

Maybe he needs an early night? ;)

Maybe he just doesn't like me. I think we may have had a run in in the past  <laugh>

That's what too much Siouxsie and the Banshees does to you <ok>

Is that a BIGGER jump than non-CL to CL club?

I'd say no, it's a big deal for the player of course, but not playing CL for a top player is in effect footballing wilderness.

Arsenal aren't a million miles from competing in England, and if they get Suarez and a couple more, they could be close this season.

Add in the stadium, the fact they are debt free, billionaire backed, London based, and it is a massive step up, despite Liverpool's great history.
