The reason people are pissed off at the moment is his actions on the pitch, I haven't seen it but as I said it sounds bad.

You could argue that he gave us an extra season. We knew he'd move, many accepted before the Summer that he was gone, but I admit it would hurt if he stayed in England, I just hope the Madrid come in with a £40m bid, just take it. But, at the end of the day Suarez is good enough to play at the highest level, you can't have some one in the top ten players in the world not playing in the CL. If he ends up at Arsenal, I'll be channelling the majority of the blame on FSG, and I'd seriously start to question them and doubt them.

  5. When Suarez joined us he said he wanted to play for one of Barca or Real eventually so given the choice, Luis will go to Spain.

If he wants to go then the greedy ****er needs to put in a transfer request and the club need to state that we will only sell him to a club abroad.

What leverage? It's the same as now: either the clause says he can force a move at 40+M or he simply hears about all offers of that kind.

In fact I would suggest a protracted legal dispute would actually delay any outcome not speed it along.

And why on earth would we say yes to an offer ten million below what we've just said yes to? That's a stretchy Wum that. Not very good at all...

I do agree, and I'll admit that I've lost all respect for him about how he's gone about things, and in a way I feel extremely stupid for ever sticking up for him. But, if there is a release clause I'd seriously start to question FSG, and if there isn't one and they still sell to Arsenal, again, I'll seriously start to question them.

Someone else said maybe he looked pissed today because he only got a few minutes on the pitch, I highly doubt it but it could be the case. The new Arsenal developments completely contradict this.

If he goes to Arsenal I won't be happy with the board and Rodgers for allowing that to happen, we shouldn't sell to the competition, especially not a player who can massively improve them. More than this though it will just confirm that Suarez is total scum, which was already evident as he's also a violent racist thug.

There's still one reason that keeps a part of me saying 'hope he stays' and that's when the ball's at his feet, as was on show again today, looks like it's going to be more of the same from him this season, wherever he is. If he stays I wouldn't call my attitude to him 'support' more tolerating a necessary evil.

Totally sick of it though now and hopefully it'll be at an end asap. Nope, of course it won't!

Pretty sure I remember him saying that, or something like that.

  15. This! If we are going to allow a player to have a release clause (whether that is the case or not) then we should at least be adding to it to prevent said player from joining a rival., or even making the release clause a lot higher for joining a rival.

    Hypothetical question.

If he stays would any of you still sing the Suarez song at a game??

    #1856
  17. I think the crowd will let him know what they think at the first home game but then get behind him again. Fans are fickle and would soon love him once he starts scoring goals.

Personally, I think Real are interested but since their season doesn't start until after ours, they will late as long as possibly before making a move. This would see Suarez serving part of remaining ban before joining them and therefore missing less games for Real. This doesn't matter to Arsenal because they're in the same league, I think they are trying to get a jump on Real. Suarez will know if real are interested.

Agreed, sorta like how the Arsenal fans are saying he's a twat but he can be our twat, cause they want to win, they want to score goals. Much like we would be if he were to stay.

    frank,

A legal fight between Suarez and LFC would do the player no good whatsoever. Our owners live in the most litigious state in the world. They operate in the most litigious sectors (media and finance) of the economy of that state. They have access to far more legal resources than Suarez and his agent. So even if the Suarez camp are right about the legal connotations of this clause, the transfer window will be well closed before any ruling could be achieved.

Add to that, LFC already know that they will not have Suarez's services for the majority of the first quarter of the season. LFC are under no time pressure whatsoever.

I can't see John Henry allowing Suarez to act like a big sulky puss in the same way that Torres did and I don't see him bending to the demands of the player unless it suits his/our financial position.

  20. Surely it wouldn't be a big drawn out case anyway? The wording of the clause is in black and white, the judge would just need to read it and hear each parties version. Four hours should be ample!
