Tony Barrett ‏@TonyBarretTimes 12m Right. It's 10.30 so here goes: Arsenal have had an improved offer of £40,000,001 for Luis Suarez rejected by Liverpool. This bid looks 100% legit. Many outlets are claiming that if Suarez desires, he will be allowed to talk to us. The bid itself seems to have pissed Liverpool off but they can **** off if they really think they are getting £50M+ for him. We should not bid a penny over £45M.
You can respond to my post but don't start giving me bullshit like I want to be miserable or I will look for any excuse to have a go at Arsenal or that I am throwing a tantrum. I just LOVE Cesc and would hate to see him in a United jersey. It is as simple as that.
£4Om is a **** load of cash. Liverpool should take that offer, especially as Suarez says he wants out. Can't see Real making a bid anywhere near that to be honest.
I'd be gutted too, but saying you would fall out of love with football and wouldn't care if we signed Suarez, Bernard and Gustavo just comes across like a bit of a girly tantrum really. You need to man up a bit Batmoanu
If Liverpool turn down the £40m, which they will, I hope we just pay the £31m for Higuain. It's more than he's worth but we can blame PSG, Monaco, City for that
We just need to give Suarez ANYTHING he wants, make Arsenal as appealing to him as possible and then he will kick up a fuss and force his way out of Liverpool.
BBC Sport ‏@BBCSport 2m Breaking: Liverpool reject a bid of £40m from Arsenal for Luis Suarez. More soon #lfc #afc
Ok please explain this to: Liverpool have a clause in the player's contract which if met, allows them to inform the player of Arsenal's interest and to allow Arsenal to contact the player but not to actually buy the player? The object of said clause being the hope that Suarez would make a transfer request which L'pool would then reject. Make sense? Not to me.
It gives us permission to talk to him. We can make Arsenal seem as appealing as possible to him, we can offer him wages nobody in Liverpool would dream of. Basically, we can make Arsenal seem so good that when he goes back to meet up with his team, he will get down on his knees and burst into tears of despair. If he starts kicking up a fuss, then Liverpool are going to have to drop their asking price or risk having a very unhappy player on their hands. And it's all because of the £40M clause in his contract that gives him permission to talk to us.
I'm guessing that it has similarities to something we've seen recently with Higuain. We reportedly had a verbal agreement with Real Madrid of £23 million for him, so then Real Madrid gave us permission to speak to Higuain and discuss personal terms etc. Then once that was agreed we go back to Real Madrid and discuss say instalments of the payment and other variables. In this case I'm guessing the £40 million is similar to a verbal agreement of willingness to let the player go and allowing him to discuss terms with other clubs, if personal terms are agreed we can go back to Liverpool and discuss an actual price with the potential aid of transfer request. Hey, who knows, rumours going around that the £40 million clause is open to legal interpretation so we could just buy him for that should it go to court.
Liverpool are focusing too much on the £1 and not the £40M that came with it. We have already offered more than he is worth. They should just accept it and move on while Soldado is still available.
