By choice, maybe. He doesn't struggle with the physicality of the PL at all, in fact he is more tenacious and energetic than most, despite his size. And that seems a trait of many Brazilian players these days.

There will be a massive backlash against Wenger if he doesn't exercise his first refusal option. I can't see people being happy if Arsene allows ManUre to sign cesc
Sky are so convinced that this deal will happen that they are pretending neither Arsenal or our 1st option exist. Although the possibility of him joining United is very real, there is something very odd in the way they are reporting the deal.
He has to want to join Arsenal. No clause can make him join a club if he doesn't want to. As Wenger is still close to him, maybe he knows how the player feels?
Wenger has said he has spoken to Cesc and Cesc wants to remain at Barca for another year at least but that Arseal where keeping an eye on him due to the clause in his contract afaik. Cesc also recently liked a load of Fabregas back to Arsenal stuff. He watches our games, makes comments often on his twitter about us etc... He is in regular contact with Wenger and so i dont think it's as clear cut as some think. I dont think he would simply choose Utd over us - he is one of the few players i feel genuinely feels a strong affiliation with the club and manager. I personally think Wenger has spoken to Fabregas and that there may be something in the pipeline for next season should Fabregas still not be happy at the end of the season. BUT if Utd force Barcas hand and they sell up i do hope we go in for him..
Confirmed on BBC: http://www.lequipe.fr/Football/Actualites/Bernard-vendredi-a-arsenal/387580 Arsenal are set to sign Atletico Mineiro forward Bernard, reports L'Equipe. The report says the 20-year-old Brazilian international, who attended the last Confederations Cup, is due in London for a medical on Friday.
@johncrossmirror #afc Arsene Wenger denied Arsenal signing Bernard when I asked him. 'That report is not true.'
My sources have informed me that Porto's interest in the player could also complicate the issue if Bernard decides to sign for Arsenal.
Bernard would be a good signing, we have not had a proper left sided player for a while, and keep playing players out of position there. It would also help to compensate for the worst case scenario, if we dont sign a striker, as we could use podolski as a proper striker. I dont think the premier league is as physical as it was 10 years ago, and there seems to be a trend of smaller players doing well in the league, people like modric ect, plus city have signed a light weight in navas, I dont view it as a major problem.
My hopes are that we continue to pursue Higuain in light of Napoli not being willing to spend more than us on him, that we go in for Cesc if Utd have a bid accepted, that we bid £40mil ish for Suarez to test if its going to be possible to sign him or not so we can move for other targets and keep tabs on any back-up targets to make sure we don't ending up failing in bringing in top talent now that we have the money available.
