i didn't know monaco had been relegated, park chu young wouldn't be a bad squad player and would bring plenty of shirt sales

I know he is older and not the "FSG model" player. Lucho is leaving Marseille, for a cut down price say 5 million, surely he would be an excellent addition to the team? I used to enjoy watching him play for Argentina and Porto. I would take a punt on him, if we cannot get the likes of Banega or others who are younger.

    Much better than Poulsen FFS!

Hearing ( from a Man U fan ) that Ashley Young could be on his way to LFC after all.

Fergie not willing to match Liverpool's offer of 5 year contract at £90,000 a week.

Another 90k pw contract? The last person we paid those wages too was J Cole.. I really don't reckon Young would be the best option for us. There are better and younger wingers around.

Another 90k pw contract? Is alot of money but we have to pay big wages to get good players these days.

There are better players out there than Ashley Young ( Hazard , Mata etc ) but 1) alot of them are foreign and may struggle in the PL so they can be a risk & 2) would they want to come to us as we cannot offer CL football at the moment?

Yea it's just a lot for a player who would probably not be in our first 11 consistently (since he is SUCH an inconsistent player). Yea, no CL is an issue, but frankly I'd rather have those who wanted to be a part of what we are building, like Suarez has done, rather than just get dropped into a sterile generic CL team, obviously I'm biased though lol. But anyway, If it were possible, Hazard/Mata would be a much better option.

Totally agree , but I think players like Suarez are hard to find.

Most non-British players will want to play for clubs that are in CL League at the moment or paying loadsa money ( like Chelsea/Man City )

KingPepeReina - I heard that Hendersen rumour too , but I also heard that we were more interested in McCarthy for CM - who knows ??

The only club I can think of well in the premier league anyway that has someone similar is Man City in Tevez. However if they were to lose him,and its still unsure whether they will or they won't,However they will be weakened considerably if they do lose him.
However I do agree that we need players that want to play for the club first and foremost,The CL is something different that can be achieved by pulling in the same direction. If we have to wait a little while...it'll be worth the wait and the players new or old will take pride in getting us there, and that is motivation in itself.

£90,000 is a lot. But think of it this way, if he is a replacement for Cole then the wage bill doesnt increase but we get a younger, better, quicker player.

Also, the likes of Hazard and Sanchez would be at least on that considering they are wanted by City and Chelsea who could and would offer near £150,000 a week.

As for Mata, I have a feeling that we may still get him even if we do get Young

Been a fair bit of buzz about Henderson today. We were interested in Mcarthey but now Wigan have stayed up maybe they are playing hard ball over the price. hence weve gone for Henderson?

To be honest, I don't think there's much in it between Henderson and McCarthy. Both young lads, had plenty of first team premiership football, and are good future prospects. McCarthy at 10m or Henderson at 12.5m... Either one I think is a good deal, as I could easily see them asking 20m such is the market/demand these days. I'd assume it will one or the other though, not both.

Sunderland rejected £13m for Henderson ( according to reports )

I heard we are willing to increase the offer.

Just wondering, is it an English quota thing or just wanting more of the type of players that will help win the league ( know the prem league, know the importance of it especially for liverpool, etc) mixed in with the Suarez's to get back into Champions league fold and have that sort of quality? I hope it works if that is the idea!

I wondered that, but I think it's Kenny just trying to establish a team of old where the majority of the team were English or Scottish. The clubs that do best in Europe are those with predominantly same nationality players; Barcelona, Milan, Bayern Munich all are composed primarily of their respective nationalities. He's probably just trying to get that back.

Ya, I see that, but just want quality ya know, not just trying to bring the old grit into the team. As long as the squad is being strengthened then I am ok with it!

Although, saying that, Inter regularly have 0 Italians in their starting line up.
I think there might be a slight bias towards British talent, particularly if it's available and of the same standard as someone we might be looking at from abroad.

Yea, there is the integration and language barrier issue that can play a big part.

If we can get two top internationals ( talking banega, mata, vargas) and two top English/Scottish prospects that would be awesome. I see we are not really linked with any CB's as of late, maybe change of tune on if the youth are ready ( Wilson, Kelly)?

Scott Dann is a name that's come up a lot regarding CBs. He's a local lad and a supporter, so you can imagine he'd play for the shirt and not just the pay packet. Similarly Simon Kjaer has just come out and said how he'd love to play for us since his father and uncle are fans, as is he.

and there is the dilemma we talk about, a proven international in Kjaer or a local lad who will give his all. hmmmmm
