I'm all for getting the best money possible, but keeping him, unhappy, is counter-productive. Don't think he'll sulk like Torres, but we can do without him castigating all his team mates every time a move breaks down. Love you luis and always will, and I think you're more sinned against than sinned, BUT - time to move on for everyone's sake. Let him go for £35m if it's abroad, £50 -55m if its to an EPL team.
Dont know if this has already been said? or If it is complete bullshit, but Twitter is supposedly going nuts with rumours that Suarez is about to sign a new contract at Liverpool.
Liverpool's Luis Suarez joins summer tour in Australia http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23401223
I pointed out last season that it's a bit of a coincidence that he seem's to get a bit bitey whenever hes pushing for a move. I hope I'm wrong but if he is still with us and upset next season I can see another ban coming his way. Its actually quite a clever way to engineer a move, lowering your value to your current club and in the transfer market making him a less risky purchase.
Brendan Rodgers remains relaxed about Luis Suarez's future after the striker joined Liverpool's tour squad in Australia in 'great spirits'. Rodgers: Suarez is in great spirits Suarez missed the start of the club's summer tour after being given time off to recover from the Confederations Cup, but he met with his teammates last night and is expected to feature against Melbourne Victory on Wednesday. At a press conference to mark Liverpool's first ever visit to Australia, Rodgers was asked whether he had spoken to the Uruguay international about his future. He answered: "As we've always been as a club, I'm quite relaxed about it. He's an integral part of our squad. "We'll chat at some stage, like I do with all the players. "But he's back, he's in great spirits. He's obviously an integral part of the group - you could see his closeness with his teammates last night when they were all seeing him for the first time in a number of weeks. "He'll join training today with all the other players and over the course of the next few weeks we'll communicate. "Him and I have been in regular communication throughout the summer." Rodgers was pressed further of whether he expected Suarez to remain at Liverpool for the 2013-14 season. "Yes, very much so," said the boss. "There's been a lot of speculation over the course of the close season but the reality is that he's a player who is very much valued at Liverpool and unless there's any sort of offer that comes in that's anywhere near his value, there's nothing to consider. "We haven't had that." Asked what that value was, Rodgers replied: "I didn't say we would sell him! I said that every player has a value and a worth. Doesn't mean you've got to sell them." Rodgers also revealed that Suarez would play some part in Wednesday's game at the MCG. "They will all be involved, they will all have some part to play," said the manager. http://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/latest-news/140176-rodgers-suarez-is-in-great-spirits
it seems that he says he'll play on wednesday which is a minor surprise for me. surely you do the assessment work first.
Remember he was playing in a tournament up to three week ago. I do no see him not to be fit at least 70 per cent fit.
I quite like this idea. I don't like that he's "done a Rooney" so to speak but, if the club are clever with it, they can use it to their advantage; Suarez because he wants to play CL football. Get him to sign a new contract that DOES include a release clause but make it for £45m to a CL club only! We get one more season out of him at least.
I hear the twitter world failed to check its dates as an article form 12 months ago was reposted as a joke and it "trended" its now gorwn to release clauses and all sorts when in fact there is no new contract or even thought of it. Date is 2012 not 2013 on the article in question. We can get a season out of him anyway but only in two ways. 1. we refuse all offers even real and hope he is pro enough to give the 12 months 2. ayre and rodgers agree privately that he can go for x amount to real in 12 months time even if we are in the CL. It can't be like levy it has to be like ferguson. It has to be Ayre cos with respect to rodgers he is not ferguson and might not be there in 12 motnths time in the players mind. In the end i think If real don't come in we could be in better shape. If we can "rehabilitate" him AGAIN and sell him to the highest bidder (knowing city, psg and the like are mad) then that's what i might do. I do think what ever else he is he'll deliver on the pitch in the only way he knows how. 100% every game. That said... Once real shift higuin to napoli for 30mil we will see an opening bid form madrid. they would be wise to go this while ayre and co are in australia so that they can work the low ball bid with the agent. If i were them i'd even try get to FSG and undermine the management team. By thats just me being real madrid... underhanded.
We can get another season out of Suarez in far more ways MITO. Not least Ayre and Rodgers can just tell him that he's staying. There is no need to make any promises regarding the season after. Suarez cannot do a Torres sulk without significantly reducing his attraction to other clubs. It's a pure power play and for the next 2 seasons, the power does not lie with Suarez. I would be more than surprised if Rodgers, Ayre and Henry have not already agreed what the figure would be that would prompt an acceptance.
Not quite what I meant. Obviously we would be able to attract better players (although we'd still only have the same budget at that stage), my question is in regards to Luis Suarez alone. Would you try to keep him or ship him out regardless of whether Barca or Real came knocking? Ie, you've made your bed...
With 2 years left and being back in the CL he either signs a new contract if he wants to stay or we sell him if he wants to go I guess
I think you really are buying into the Mail's image of a dastardly, comic book baddie like the Childcatcher from Chitty-Chitty Bang Bang or the Hooded Claw. Really don't think Luis is that cunning.
yeah..... I mean you've got to believe then that real know all about it. In the end luis is now at a point where a repeat of this activity could be a year ban and that could roll into other european leagues at the very least. I cannot see it washing myself. Once ok... i could believe it... i could even believe a player like the example of mutu trying something to get a move but if it were found out the law suit a vindictive club could bring.....
