    It was interesting that some players played under there own numbers last night (Lallana 20, S Davis 8 for example) but Lambert wore 3. Do you think there's anything in this or is it just random? Could it be that Lambert will have a lesser role this season and the shirt worn by he, Le Tiss and Kevin Phillips will be entrusted to someone else this season?

    Obviously Rickie will be used as cover for Luke Shaw this season, with Fox joining JRod up top.

    We had this last season as well. Lambert wore 18 against Ajax.

    Doesn't this happen every pre-season when the players wear random kit numbers and people start panicking? <doh>

    Don't look into it too much. Some examples: Chambers was wearing 2 which Clyne wore last season, 3 is what Yoshida's was last season, Ward-Prowse wore 10 which is Ramirez' number, Schneiderlin was playing in 19 instead of 4. Don't think it means anything.

    Lambert 7, Lallana 20, Rodriguez 9 + Ramirez 10 were all available to buy from the club shop, which says to me that those numbers are guaranteed to be kit numbers net season.
