    Just putting it out there:

For example, if we bid £4mil (rejected) and QPR bid £5mil (accepted), do you think Hooper could/would turn around and tell Celtic "I'm not moving to QPR", forcing Celtic to accept our £4mil offer in order to cash in on him?

To be honest I'm not sure they would, if they were going to, I would suspect that they will at least play it out right up to the deadline and hope some one else comes in with inxs of £4M. Think how despirate we might be, come 24hrs before the deadline if we still have not signed another striker?(Our current other options out there seem unlikely at present, though who knows whats going on behind closed doors?) We may not be alone then and they may still get an inflated price. Or they could lose him for next to nothing in January, but they seem to want to at least appear to be playing hard ball for their fans even if its unlikely he will stay.

    Bah!

it's a gamble but could pay off- would still prefer to match their offer and let the player decide what he wants - hardly gives hooper the message we want him

Goodness me, I just looked at his record in the Austrian League. Looks as though he absolutely banged them in!

no idea, not seen a fee mentioned. probably just nonsense anyway. i'd rate him around the £3.5m-4m mark

I was just coming here to post about Hosiner. I dont know much about him at all but he scored 31/32 last season. I havent found much else out though apart from he looks quite sleight - I still think we need a player who can be a physical presence upfront....

    he's ****ing nuts guru.

having said that, he is right that you don't have any real quality. doesn't mean you won't creep up the league though - hard work and organisation gets you quite a long way and mccarthy is very capable of getting you into the top half, maybe even top 10

have to disagree with you supers to a certain degree, I rate working hard and staying organised as a quality. I agree we don't have a player who can turn a match with a sublime piece of skill, saying that Didds free kick was something special last night, and our second goal wasn't a tap in.

yes and no supers, disagree when you say we don't have 'real' quality. what is the definition of 'real' quality. totally agree with though that we are organised and hopefully that will see us creep up the league, hopefully to playoff spot at least.

    And yes, didds is McGoldrick.

i meant individually you have no real quality. nobody to inspire. nobody to pick a game up by the scruff of the neck or create something out of nothing. you've got a team of grafters with a bit of width. a typical mccarthy team i suppose you could say. i don't feel that's harsh. i think you'll finish around 10th-14th but very difficult to say in the championship. you could as easily finish top as you could bottom
