There 2 different type of players, ones a shadow striker... In behind rvw and obviously hooper is a striker. Personally I would happily pay 12mil for him, easily get 2 or 3 years out of him. But he clearly doesn't want the move so don't know why were bothering!
He may want the move, but if we dont bid enough then we will never find out. The club have to accept our bid before we can talk to him.
I don't think the CAM that's being mentioned is critical. I'd love to see what Hoolahan or Howson could do with Fer alongside. One more striker is the essential hire for me.
I don't think it's CAM which is the problem, I think Fer will be a big upgrade on our more physical midfielders, but I wanted to see an upgrade on Fox he had a poor season but I thought we missed his vision he links it together, other then that we're one dimensional in midfield there is no one there who dictates the pace or flow of the game.
We need at least one more striker. I'd prefer two. What would be ideal is a target man who can hold up the ball and link play. Physical enough to bully defenders but skillful enough to both score goals and bring out the best in those around him. So we need Holt but he wanted to move on,fair enough. How much is Holt II going to be, if indeed we can find him??
If Hooper goes to the EPL he will get marked thoroughly when he comes up against Stoke City and West Ham and the others who kick their opponents balls to stay In the EPL.
Latest from Italy. Reportedly Chris hughton met with Quag and his agent and we have an agreement in principal. We are yet to meet Juventus demands of 10mil euro's. The report from last night is wide of the mark.
this, to me, sounds more likely than the story from gianluca di marzio. i've been told by another italian journo to be 'aware' of di marzio's information as his stories are often 'wild'. apparently he's living off getting the 'guardiola to bayern' story right i can't see us flying a private jet out there if there wasn't a remote possibility of a deal being struck with the player.
Transfermarkt value him at €10M/£8.8 so Juve are not wildly over the top in their asking price. IMO he would be a terrific signing, not just for the goals he will get but also the nous and experience he will bring to the squad. Let's do it!
People who complain about signing a player of quags ability are living in kookoo land! All of it down to age, completely bizarre. We only dreamt of being linked to players like this only a couple of seasons ago and now it's here people are moaning cos of there age. Get a grip!
Blessing or nightmare - All prospective transfers by CH and DM should be put be placed on here and voted for to decide who joins. Ultimate Big Brother run club. Nightmare IMO. Trust in the management - they have done us pretty well over the last couple of years!
the general rule of thumb is that strikers hit two peaks during their careers - between 22-25 and 29-32 - so not too sure what the issue is age-wise as he's a great player and has hardly been out of form, he's been playing and a used sub for juventus in a title winning team. other than him not having any future re-sale value (which is fair enough) i can't really see the concern. he'd almost certainly be one of, if not the most talented player the club has ever had
Could be or might not be transfer related. There's no Barnett, Bassong or Turner gone to the US. Planning on no CB this season?
