A little disappointed we missed out on Cesar think he would have been perfect for us. On the striker front I'm really hoping the Higuian plus cash rumours for Suarez are not true. That would be the worst case scenario for us. Missing out on both Higuain and Suarez in one foul swoop.
Not sure Higuain would go to a non-Champs league side. Arsenal would be a more likely choice, especially with the World cup coming up.
Have I? and if so I am yet to see any indication other than the manager saying the same thing all managers say when players are subject to bids.
Interesting that Villanove did not say "We do not want to sell him" or "He is not for sale" or even "He is an important player for us".. All he said was that Cesc does not want to go. It sounsd like: -Cesc, ManU want you, will you go? -No, I want to stay here!! -Well.. OK.. cool.
Still think theres a chance, I mean we wouldnt bid otherwise. And the bid has not been rejected which suggests its still under consideration. Fabregas has also said nothing on it, just Tito, who I am sure doesnt speak for Fabregas considering hes previously said he isnt leaving ( which is what Tito is referring too ).
There are rumours now that Barca have not received a bid for Fabregas from any team.If this is true it just shows how we all get sucked in by media gossip
Its another great example of the 'Transfers for dummys' manual. Club bids for player Players club says he wants to stay as saying otherwise would drive the price down not up Other clubs interested, further increasing the price I expect one of two things next. A public rejection of the bid but it will leave the door ope for another bid or United increase their offer anyway, anticipating Barcelonas next move.
For all the talk, this transfer window is starting to look alot like the previous ones. Although this year we dont have a BIG name to sell off. So we are looking at buying a striker (we know this for a fact because 1. We contacted and spoke to Higuains agent and 2. We have tabled a bid for Suarez) but if anything we appear further away from actually signing one than we did a few weeks ago. In all honesty WHO are we going to sign?? 1. Suarez - We have had a £30 Million bid rejected. Liverpool want £40 Million - Can anyone realistically see us paying that much for a single player? 2. Higuain - After letting Arsenal and Juve speak to Higuain it appears Real Madrid have pushed the price up. Still the most likly from this group but looking less and less so everyday. 3. David Villa - Sold to Athletico Madrid. 4. Cavani - Not that we could really afford him anyway but he looks on his way to PSG. 5. Falcao - Sold to Monico for £48m. 6. Jovetic - Looks to be going to Manchester City. 7. Mario Gomez - Gone to Fiorentina. 8. Wayne Rooney - Moyes doesnt want to sell and I think Chelsea will outbid us should he hand in a transfer request. Shame though because I think Wenger would get the best out of him. 9. Benteke - Aston Villa want alot of money for a player with only one decent Season under his belt. Massive risk and somewhat over-priced. 10. Lewandowski - verbally agreed to join Bayern in 2014 and has agreed to stay at Dortmund for one last Season. That leaves the likes of Remy and Torres - either would be a complete disaster. Sigh, I cant be the only one who is getting increasingly frustrated.
I have been seeing this coming for a while. There are not many top strikers moving, and there are still clubs that can out-bid us. So, I still think Giroud is better than most people give him credit for, and Podolski too. It would also be really harsh to drop Walcott or Cazorla from the first XI, So let's be honest here, we are not really hurting for strikers. No question whatsoever that these guys are going to have to get better, but it isn't a completely whacko idea that they will. In my mind we need a DM far worse and a CB. We have a ton of very talented attacking players and whilst I wouldn't turn Rooney or Higuain away, if it doesn't happen it isn't wrist-slashing time for me. If we don't sign a backup or an upgrade for Arteta-Ramsey, and another backup CB, we are in much deeper ****.
