I've beaten FTL once, on Easy, in probably 150 playthroughs. And that came through sheer luck in terms of my weaponry...I ended up with four missile launchers late in the game after having almost exclusively used boardings throughout the game, so I had 50 missiles remaining, and won simply by spamming the flagship with them.

This already sounds like I might hate it.

It's a roguelike, so death = starting from scratch, and there are a lot of ways to die. If it isn't clear from what I mentioned, Easy is not very easy at all, and there's no lower setting. You will spend the first 20-30 attempts dying in new and novel ways within the first three or four sectors before getting the hang of it, at which point you'll start getting progressively further until, miracle of miracles, you make it to the flagship, which is the final boss. Then, you will die. And after getting killed by the flagship several more times (which, again, means playing through from the beginning), you might just beat it.

It's a game for obsessive-compulsives and the overly competitive. If you are neither, you will hate it. If you are one or the other, you will hate it, but you will play a lot of it, and you will smile the smile of the victorious, and vow never to play it again. And then you will start thinking about maybe beating it on Normal, which you will fail to do, but you will try.

And mine, I genuinely have to hold my laptop in the air for a good 10 minutes after about 2 hours of playing any games.

I have to go to great lengths to keep my laptop cool when playing games at this time of year, sometimes I basically have to balance a fan between my legs and perching my laptop on top of it to stop it from going volcanic.

On that topic, I've flirted with laptop cooling pads (of the USB-powered fan variety), but they've ranged from naff to effective but flimsily built, I don't suppose anyone has used any they can recommend?

Ah okay, thank you. Am a Mac man so that prospective addiction can be shelved!

Believe that you can get it for Mac. And as for system requirements, any computer made in the past five years should handle it with ease...graphically-intense, it ain't.

Bendtner is a fool. Priced himself out of a move to Eintracht and now looks like doing the same at Hull. If ever there was a player who holds his value higher than it is, then it is he.

Ok I'm starting it now. If I don't come back then I've probably broken my computer.
