So is he a definite starter? If so who will he replace? Or is he a very expensive squad strengthener? I would imagine that the midfield Pochettino would want to put out would include Wanyama, Ramirez and Schneiderlin, so who misses out? In fact perhaps we ought to start a new thread on what do we think next season's team will look like given the players we have currently.

Ok, I'll do it.

If Tadanari Lee is an "exceptional talent" then Wanyama certainly is too. At any rate, he's got over 20 caps, is their captain and has surely played whatever the percentage of the required international games is.

I would think he and Schneiderlin will be the 2 holding midfielders who play most often, although Cork could probably play with either of them as well. Further forward it's too early to tell and depends who we sign.

With our current squad, I would play:

Boruc
Clyne - Lovren - Forren - Shaw
Wanyama - Schneiderlin
JRod - Ramirez - Lallana
Lambert

If we have a tough away game then possible Ramirez could be sacrificed for Cork to sit in front of the defence, or the same when we're protecting a lead in the final minutes.

The quota is 75% of a country's competitive internationals over the last two years I think. Wanyama played every one of Kenya's World Cup qualifiers.

I don't think it's a case of who he replaces but he does give us options. He would allow us to play a solid 4-3-3, we could move Morgan forward into a more advanced role, the ability to rest any of them if needed and it also free's Jack up to cover at right back. All in all he would be a very welcome addition to the squad.

best of luck, Vic <cheers>

I hope he is a successful and as popular with us as he was with you.

We love and respect good footballers in Southampton we have seen and produced many over the last 128 years.

He will be playing in a team that plays good football. Just ask your fellow country man SAF.
