I'd say that has more to do with Sandro getting to injured than the quality of our defenders.

Spurs defenders in team of the year: 1,
    Arsenal: 0

It's alright, we aren't offering you any. Kaboul is one of the best in the league, I'll be thrilled to see him back. Him and Vertonghen will be awesome. Dawson is also underrated, although not at his best last season.

Dawson is a Turkey, and Kaboul is no better than Koscielney or Mertesacker, who when they finally cemented their place together formed one of the best defensive pairings in the PL. Vertonghen is the one player who I wish we'd signed instead of you lot last season.

Kaboul is better than Vertonghen as a defender. It's only when it comes to ball playing aspects and attacking ability that Vertonghen wins on. Still a good defender too don't get me wrong but not as defensively sound as Younes.

Things like that are completely subjective though. Man City conceded the fewest goals in the league but their GK + defenders were not given any such accolade.

Totally agree, although Kaboul is no mug with the ball either. He is way above Dawson in that respect. Seen some very decent forays forward from him, especially when he plays right back.

That's because he's a like train when he gets going, you just can't stop him! <laugh>

But in all seriousness I agree, he does like getting up the field now and then which comes in handy, especially when he's been at right back like you mentioned.

And you could well argue that they didn't deserve to be either. At best only Clichy or Zabaleta would've been in with a shout surely? Meaning the stats of fewer goals conceded mean little when applied to assess a defence's strength or weakness.

I don't think WY bases his opinion on PFA teams of the year, it was just a counter argument to another ill founded one.

I thought the young CB Nastasic who kept Lescott out of the side was very good too.

In many important games - the ones Arsenal can't win and as a result are no longer considered genuine title contenders - Arsenal's lack of pace in defence and weakness in trying to play a high line was exposed. It's not always about the numbers. City too showed some uncharacteristic vulnerability in defence away from home last year, which made a crucial difference from the year before when the solidity of Hart and Kompany was earning them the key narrow wins.

Isn't Bendtner going there? I thought they were struggling to match his wages, so I can't see how they'd sign Torres.
Must be a massive subsidy from Chelsea, if there's any truth in it, which sounds extremely unlikely.

Looks like the Bony deal has finally gone through for Swansea:

There's been a few moves today. Robles followed Martinez to Everton, Altidore's joined the Mackems and ex-Villa defender Olof Mellberg's joined FC Copenhagen.
