They're just copying us and Friedel... Think they're still short in that department, if I remember right. They released Turnbull and Hilario at the end of the season and extended Courtois' loan at Atletico, so they probably need another back-up.
Norwich are being linked with more cash splashing. Ajax centre-half Toby Alderweireld, FC Twente midfielder Leroy Fer and Juventus striker Fabio Quagliarella are all supposedly joining the Canaries next week. Fees of €8.5m, €9m and €8m don't appear to have put off Delia and her mates, despite already having brought in Martin Olsson, Carlo Nash, Nathan Redmond, Ricky van Wolfswinkel and Javier Garrido. It'll be interesting to see how much of this is just media speculation and how much they pull off. Chris Hughton would have a very decent team on his hands if it all goes through.
I agree but people said the same about QPR (although I always had my reservations), its important they don't forget their roots and completely disintegrate team spirit ala QPR.
I don't believe it. Quagliarella?! He's who we should be signing! AKA the biggest bum-chin in world football. Leroy Fer looks nailed on though by reports - £4.5m
Norwich largely seem to be bringing in players just above their level but with youth on their side though, in my opinion. Quagliarella would be the obvious exception. Van Wolfswinkel, Alderweirald, Fer and Redmond were all linked with more established sides (Fer failing a medical at Everton last season), but nobody picked them up. They'll probably see this as a real attempt to push on and impress. QPR signed players that were either past it, injury-wracked, out of their league (Brazil's No.1?) or completely disinterested. Not suitable for a relegation battle. The Canaries would appear to be looking up and trying to make their place in the league more comfortable.
Seems pretty ambitious, doesn't it? I thought we'd be in for his teammate Vucinic actually, now that they've signed Tevez and Llorente. Maybe we could get them both in?
I thought he was supposed to have agreed to go to Roma a few months back. I'm sure I read a load of articles about us "missing out" on him.
He was supposed to be close to a move to Roma, Dortmund or Leverkusen at various times and a bunch of clubs have looked at him, including us and Liverpool. I think he's seen as a bit of a risk, as he's not been quite as convincing as Vertonghen, especially since we signed his former teammate. Might become one of those that got away, if he can kick on. Bassong had a very good campaign for them. Might pair up well.
He's the world's richest Pakistani, apparently. ...yet isn't in the top five richest Premier League club owners.
Is there anyone left in the Premier League that isn't owned by a billionaire? It's pretty standard now, isn't it? They don't all look like villains from a silent film though, admittedly. Still, it could be worse. He could look like a hateful, drunk lunatic. Oh, wait... please log in to view this image
