Wow ! Southend was really a wild guess. OK. There is a World Championship in this every year in Norfolk, the winning time last year was 3 mins. 20 seconds. What is it ?
Is it the world snail racing championships? It was won by a snail called racer owned and trained by 5yr old Sue.
In that case I shall hazard the occasional guess, though I think the odds of a correct answer are only marginally better than those of the monkey taught to use a typewriter being able to come up with the full text of 'Hamlet'
A strange fact I discovered about Norfolk. The northern pool frog, England’s rarest amphibian, has its own unique Norfolk-accented croak. This frog – a native of the fens – became extinct in England in the Nineties, but was reintroduced into Norfolk from Sweden in 2005, after recordings of mating frogs were analysed and the distinctive Norfolk inflection in their calls was identified. I assume therefore that there must be a Norfolk mating call. Could anyone describe it?
I think that it's Poohsticks championships. There was an old schoolfriend who went to Oxford and told me that they heard about it, thought that it would be a laugh to watch, but missed it as they went to the nearest pub and forgot to leave there until it was over.
Sorry - not a Norfolk Frog that one. The only frog to say http://www.naturesongs.com/frog4.wav is the Pacific Chorus Frog. The Pool Frog makes a sound more akin to a quacking duck - http://www.junglewalk.com/popup.asp?type=a&AnimalAudioID=7363 - so its mating call is more likely to be "Duck over 'ere me luverly an' let's be 'avin you"
Anyone like the idea of a rule change? Either any question you can successfully google an answer to should be disallowed or all participants should swear on their old Watford programmes not to look the answers up
What 90s TV show connects the films The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets? If you can get this right, you should also be able to say how.
The Crystal Maze. Eddie Tenpole (Edward Tudor-Pole) took over from Richard O'Brien as presenter of the Crystal Maze, and he appeared in Rocky Horror Picture Show and was Mr. Borgin in Chamber of secrets
Well done Maestro. I was originally going to ask what the connection is between Meat Loaf and J.K. Rowling, but I thought that would be too hard. Just to add some extra info, Richard O'Brien was writer of the stage musical Rocky Horror Show, which was developed into the film. He then played Riff Raff in the film. He was host of the first 4 series of the Crystal Maze and Edward Tudor-Pole (who as Maestro hints at was lead singer of Tenpole Tudor) took over for the other 2 series.
