Found my old programmes and Mrs H's children's school books. No diaries though. So, assuming Maestro means just writing the story and not editing/revising, I'll hazard a guess at 9 months...
I'll try. The first draft took 9 months. Editing and rewriting probably added three months to that. After agents and publishers had seen it, often liked it, but decided it wasn't commercial enough to take to a mainstream publisher, I decided to rewrite it (cutting out some of the background detail and making the plot less complicated). This took another 6 months. You are now probably thinking, as my dear old Dad used to say "that's as clear as mud".
