A lot of news outlets reporting Higuain is now definitely signing for Arsenal. Fee is being consistently reported as 27M Euros and salary at 117K Euros/week. Will apparently be in London Thursday. http://m.foxsportsla.com/noticias/108961 Pipita Gunner! Higuain played at Arsenal The Argentine forward his wish and leave Real Madrid to play in the Premiership. The pass was fixed at about 27 million euros. Gunner Pipita! Higuain played at Arsenal Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuain agreed joining Arsenal in England and as it was his will leave Real Madrid and the League of Spain, moving to play in the Premier League. Higuain, in principle, was tried by Juventus in Italy, but the 'Old Lady' with hiring of Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente had given up counting with 'Pipita' to defend their bicampeonato in 'Calcium' and participation in the next edition of the Champions League. With this background, Arsenal had a clear path to engage the Argentine national team striker, who will travel to London tomorrow to sign his contract for three years, as revealed by the attacker's father and manager, Jorge, according to EFE, ANSA entered. "We got permission from Real Madrid to negotiate face to face with Arsenal and luckily soon I see my son in the Premier League," said Jorge Higuain who has agreed to a multimillion dollar contract for his son, amounting to 100,000 pounds per week (117 thousand euros), which will match with Theo Walcott and Thomas Vermaelen, the best payouts campus. For its part, the agreement between Arsenal and Real Madrid was at 23 million pounds (27 million euros), a little more than the 21 who had offered the English club and a little less than the 25.5 million pounds which sought the White House.
Yeah its defintely close. Higuain's father has confirmed they have now been given permission to negotiate with Arsenal. Not sure if we have agreed a fee with Real though. I'm hoping this will get done by tomorrow.
I'm rather sceptical of that story for one simple reason.I can't see Arsenal paying €27/£23 million for a player and him only signing a 3 year contract.
Not sure why no one else is going for Mario Gomez, but wouldn't he be a bargin for around £15m, as rumours are suggesting? The guys goal scoring record is something special and he is generally quite clinical infront of goal. His record: For VfB Stuttgart: 07-08 - 32 app 28 goals 08-09 - 44 app 35 goals For Bayern: 09-10 - 45 app 14 goals 10-11 - 45 app 39 goals 11-12 - 52 app 41 goals 12-13 - 32 app 19 goals
According to Sky Sports News, bookies have just stopped taking bets on Luis Suarez signing for you lot
Suarez rumours are indeed less likely than the non starter that is Rooney. More chance of Messi joining us than either Rooney or Suarez. No idea how the ridiculous Rooney rumour got so much air in the first place.
Liverpool selling Suarez to Arsenal would be an admission they can't compete with them and would all but surrender top 4. Will never happen.
Whilst it's unlikey to happen, I'd take Suarez in a flash - proven goalscorer in the premier league, he'd get bucket loads at Arsenal
So would I. He would be a perfect player for our team and style of play. He would probably be top Prem goal scorer if he had our type of service.
Mario Gomez is a brilliant poacher and has always been underated outside of Germany. I dont think he would suit our style of play at all though. Personally think Higuain is a much better option for us. He's more mobile and can create goals for himself as well as finish emphatically.
Agreed that Higuain would be better suited to us but £15m for a 27 guy with his record is very cheap. Although he wouldn't be a perfect fit, he would be a great plan b type of striker, should we change our style of play. Also he would fit well into the Premiership. Big, strong and technical good. He would get a load of goals. Also, he would make a great foil for all our attacking midfielders and wingers. He could play the Drogba role, hold up play and bring our other attackers into play.
Yes but a superior version. Giroud is good but won't win you games by himself. Mario Gomez is a more clinical finisher, a match winner and overall more stronger. He's done it for Bayern and for Germany. We will see how good Giroud is in the next season, as he has a full season playing in the Premiership under his belt. The next season will be very important for Giroud as i'm sure Wenger has some targets for him to meet. Should he not meet those targets, then I can see Wenger selling him on. So Giroud will be under more pressure come next season.
I didn't even think of that at the time, I think the difference there was that Arsenal had to sell or potentially risk losing out on millions. It was always a lose-lose situation. Suarez is contracted to Liverpool for a lengthy period, they don't have to sell so to do so to Arsenal would be surrendering any realistic hopes they have of competing with them.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2013/jul/04/gonzalo-higuain-arsenal-deal-close Once the story is in The Morning Star(incorporating The Daily Worker for peace and socialism) i'll believe it.
