Lighten up mate, it was a thread created so that those types of jokes weren't spread across various other threads. A sort of concentration of all the worst bits in one place. Yes, perhaps I should have put it on general chat, but my thinking was that if people were getting offended by all the stuff, they'd know not to read it.
Knowing that it's there, you clearly went out of your way to read it and be offended. The title was clear, the content was clearly going to be edgy so why do you insist that it was moderated incorrectly? It's closed now, which irked me a little, but it's fair enough I suppose. The mods do a fantastic job and at the end of the day, they're posters just like we are. The close season is always going to bring a lot more OT threads because there's sod all else to talk about. I shouldn't have to put a warning on every thread I write, but as it happens, I thought that the content would probably offend some people and therefore put a title up that was obvious.
You wouldn't buy a porn mag and then moan at the explicit content, so why read a thread titled "worst jokes ever" then moan that the jokes are offensive? Viewpoints about the McCanns, child abuse etc are irrelevant when making jokes. I'm pretty sure all blondes aren't stupid; jokes aren't meant to be taken seriously or literally, that's the whole point. It doesn't say anything about my political, religious or social standpoints and rightly so. Jokes are always contextual, people telling them assume that the person hearing it knows that the content isn't a true statement....I'll stop there, I can't believe I've had to explain how a joke works.
If we're going to have debates, OT threads and the like then people need to lighten up and have a bit less of a standoffish attitude.

Unless I've missed something, those kind of jokes are not spread about our football threads, It was you who introduced them - so could you class that as self-harm? Your so-called effort to save us all from that dross is pathetic and a sham. Common sense might tell you that folk have curiosity that leads to incredulity and then shock and disgust; you generated all of that, as I don't think any right thinking user of this board really expected to see some of that material, no matter how broad-minded they are. I like a good joke, I can use barrack-room language and humour, but some of you went to another place, you tested the board and you have been taken to task, simple as that.
Let me be clear, I am not mod-bashing, but I do believe they made a serious mistake,but it is their piss-poor defence of that that fails some of us. But clearly, don't challenge, just **** off is the response from OLM; what, like he did with WYP?

Now there is a program out there easy for you all to access which will provide all information (IP addresses) just on people who browse this forum, then you need another program to do the rest (dont what to give to much away) So your not as anonymous as you think! Unless your all using VPN.

See, there's the problem right there. You took what I said completely out of context; I was making a comparison and you've spun it and inserted something about children in there. Don't ever do that, it's ****ing annoying is what newspapers like The Sun do.
Who's going to be knocking on my door because of a joke? A joke in a thread titled worst jokes ever? If I put something on Facebook (I have done before) and somebody calls me up on it I'll gladly explain the thinking behind it. But it will never come to that, it never has and it never will. It isn't to provoke a reaction from anybody. It was simply a thread to siphon all the rude stuff into one place so that sensitive people such as yourself don't come across it in another thread. It comes across that you weren't content with simply letting people post jokes in one place, you wanted them gone all together, which in my opinion, is wrong. They're just words on a screen pal, I highly doubt a couple of knob gags are going to start a flash mob.
That's a bit extreme. I think a better comparison is that if you had a thread titled "OT-Horticulture", you wouldn't go on it if you weren't interested in that sort of thing. You certainly wouldn't go on and say "oh my god, what a load of **** this is, why are you even talking about it, close the thread it's totally boring".

I'll admit I've seen a few, but child pornography, gay pornography.... pornography in general is offensive only if the reader is offended by the pictures on display; which is unlikely, or he wouldn't have bought or borrowed it in the first instance. You cannot police the minds of others without a reactionary comment, and if you cannot accept that yours is not the majority view, there's little hope of you persuading them to accept your argument.
