Pretty sure we've walked away. The agent said he hadn't heard from us for 2 weeks since our last offer...that must be 3-4 wks by now. We will have moved onto other targets (hopefully).

I wouldn't believe a word that comes out that agent's piehole personally.

 

The agent lied? you just need to carm down. We will get the players we need by the end of the transfer window.

 

I agree with Fran, we have walked away from that transfer.
I look forward to following the boys career somewhere else, especially when he starts reaping what he has started to sow.

Good! The less we're in the papers, the less chance of the media scuppering the deal or causing problems for the deals. Just because we're quiet in the media doesn't mean we're doing nothing.

 

All the time stupid clubs are prepared to bung these agents bags of cash then situations like Wayama will keep happening. Just look at the Buttner situation last season...Man U didn't mind paying his Dad £1m did they.
If we are not prepared to get involved in this somewhat dodgy practice, that's fine by me so let's move on

 

Somehow I doubt his dad wanted as much from them.

Naive to think he would prefer us for footballing reasons. If they offer him enough he will go there. I still see us as in pole position for him though.

 

People please, please, please stop talking about these tabloid reports as if they're factual. If you believe that the Wanyama talks are over then fair enough, but you have to recognise that this comes from an untrustworthy source that is directly conflicting with other sources, and that we can't possibly know for sure.

When we talk about things we've read in the papers on here we are, for all intents and purposes, republishing their stories and so we have a duty to use some journalistic integrity and not mislead people further. We don't know what happened in the Buttner deal, and we don't know what's happened with Wanyama. We can speculate, but that's it. If you read something in a tabloid and then talk about it on here as if it's fact, you are misleading people. There are no two ways about that.

 

That's right, so I'm going to sue whoever it was that raised my hopes by posting we are signing Wanyama!

 

No-one has said we are definitely signing him, but when the Celtic manager says he thinks the deal should get done, I think we're entitled to assume there might be some interest.

 

Was out with a load of Scottish people yesterday at a friends BBQ, started talking about football and they all found it hilarious that anyone would pay £12 mil for Wanyama. Basically said he was good but impossible to judge how good as the SPL is poor and you can only judge him on the CL games, which he may have got really hyped up for as they were 1 off games against massive opposition.

 

That's raising my hope again Tom; my lawyer will be in touch.

Sounds like a lot of speculation and just shows how difficult it is to get players in early and a lot of us felt Pochettino was being a little naive to think players will be in by July 1st.

Fact is no clubs are going to sell important players until replacements are earmarked. Think we need a Ronaldo, Bale or Rooney to move to kick things off.

 

He said he HOPED to have players by July 1st... So far we have one and were it not for a very greedy agent, we'd possibly have two.

 

So all that gobbledygook comes out as they don't really want to lose Banega, but they might if the price is right. Could apply to most players. Then they sprinkle our name in, because everyone else does. Okay, I'm hooked
