Erm... the home socks are quite nice? The keepers' kits both look quite smart too. £50 for a shirt is a joke though!

Would have liked the home kit to be a different colour version of the away kit. Hate those bits of white hankie attached to the sleeves...looks like a mock up that someone forgot to turn into the real thing. A bit of white trim around sleeves would have been boring but more acceptable. I'm sure they will sell anyway, because many just like new kits. It's the players inside that really matter.

Both even worse than I feared.

Might be the lighting, but its a "washed out" red as well.

£50 for a £5 bit of polyester, made in a sweat shop and from a template used by dozens of other clubs. Wonderful.

And in a possible final nail in the coffin of this design... do I detect, to my utter horror... hooped socks..? <doh>

Bristol City at least have a nicer shade of red on theirs. They obviously got first dabs on the colour pallette. Saints were left with "left in the washing machine too long red"

Wait, so you moaned about losing identity/sharing with other clubs - now you want the same shade of red?

Oh well. Like the away one, home is okay. All done for another year of looking at mock-ups and saying how accurate they are.

Let's face it CBK, you weren't going to like it unless it was stripes. This isn't that bad IMO. It isn't the best, but not as bad as you keep harping on about.

Its crap mate. Socks don't go with the shorts or shirt. Gold badge is woeful and pointless. Shade of red is anemic. I could go on and on and I probably will.

Its the identity of the club and I can't identify THAT as being a Southampton shirt in any shape or form. It might as well be blue with a saints badge on & I'm sure there are few on here who would happily accept that too.

half agree with you.

Part of me feels at least the socks are breaking up the red a bit, but then I look back at the shirt and it's gold detailing. You're right, it looks a bit like someone has picked socks out of the lost and found to best match their shorts and shirt.

I'm saying that Bristol City.... LEAGUE ONE Bristol City have managed to keep a traditional colour to go with their generic design.

Saints couldn't even do that. I can imagine the discussion at St Mary's.... "ok, so we can't deviate from the generic pattern, but can we have that shade of red?"... "errr, no, bristol city have that already".

This kit is all about compromise and weak quality control.

They're both just entirely uninspiring. Walking adverts for adidas, who's branding is far more prominent than either club or sponsor. That you can buy the basic 'template' shirt for about 15 quid- not doubt to be sported by many a pub team this season- just shows what a rip off the whole thing is

i'd probably be more inclined to pick up the template shirt yeah. never a fan of main sponsors on replica shirts.

For avoidance of doubt, i've still got no intention of picking up the template shirt of that home kit. It's just not a nice shirt even without the gold.
