It's not crap. You wanted stripes, which is fair enough as that has been a long part of our history, but I just can't believe the excessive moaning and negativity about a kit from lots of people on here. Yes, I see Saints as usually in stripes, I didn't like some of the striped kits of the Pahars years and the flybe years, but at the end of the day, it is just a kit and is still Saints. I really think people hate it because they had made up their mind they wouldn't like it before hand. I am not keen on the gold badge, but it is not a disaster. As you can't identify that as been Saints, what will you do? I know you won't buy one, which is fair enough, but I don't think you would have bought one if it was stripes and you'd liked it, because then you would have just moaned about the cost and the commercialism and the corporate branding of our club and the Cortese business plan and the expensive tickets and the tacky gear in the club shop and the crap food at the ground and the wrong flag on the pole outside reception and the lack of respect to former players and so on and on and on and on and on. Jeez, it's a kit.
That's a good point and very strange as the pub team templates are normally a year later than the ones that pro clubs wear.
I don't look at it and think "Southampton", but it's not THAT bad. Like the away the more I see it. May purchase that one. It's just different. So many people outright reject anything that isn't stripes, so they can't be pleased. I don't understand the gold but the rest, okay.
I've just imagined the new home kit without those awful white wings, and I realise I've stopped trying to bring up my breakfast toast. So there you go. I've actually managed to find something worse than hooped socks, which before was my personal nadir of dislike. What are those white things trying to represent..? Of course, if you take them away, you end up with a very close approximation of a famous Addidas kit from the late 1970's. I always considered that distinctly below average looking, but it looks like a beacon of good design compared to our latest offering. I still consider it well below average, which just illustrates how poor I think ours is: please log in to view this image
guilty of this. the only shirt i have I bought when they were discounted before the new designs came out. I don't even like that one much. hoped they'd have made enough of the sash kit to exceed demand, but I done goofed and missed out.
Football is a commercial beast. None of us like that, but some of us need to just accept it, as it isn't changing soon.
It is crap. I think some are trying to convince themselves its not crap to keep themselves in line with the club as always. Possibly because they are also annoyed that us "moaners" have been proven right. It's the club's identity. Something that is being eroded, or at the very least, messed with.
Which means what exactly? Please tell me as I am beginning to think you "moaners" are onto something and I might just sheep-up a bit and follow you instead. Come on please tell me what exactly that identity is? < < For the record, I haven't said I like it yet, just it isn't as bad as some make out.
Like last years shirt it will appear slightly orange on TV. On reflection though, I'm going back to 'its just a shirt'. Results (and a couple of decent signings) will make up for it.
People may love it, like it or dislike it...personal opinion, but I don't think that 'liking it' is only possible for sheep who kow tow to the club on all things. Some people just like it!! I don't by the way, but see no reason to insult people who do.
Oh dear. If you combined the best bits of the two shirts it might be OK i.e.. the neck from the red and the sleeves from the black.
I usually like one of the kits but both home and away this year are disgusting. Saves me a few quid as Ill still be wearing my lucky yellow away for another year. Some may like it and buy it. Each to their own
It's terrible again. I might actually like it a bit more than the pinstripe, but those flappy sleeves, who on earth looks at that and thinks yeh great we'll have it? We've now had 2 yrs with really nice kits, and 2 yrs with **** washed out orangey kits. Lets hope next year some sense is restored, and lets hope that we play so well we'll forget about it, or at least I will. Away kit, mehh, dull as dishwater.
I will give them some credit they have turned a really kiddy template and made it look professional, not a massive fan of the gold but having the crests and sponsor all the same colour does make it look more classy. So not a massive fan of the home kit, but they have done a good job if thats what they wanted. Looks so much better than in the leaked stuff. Also big fan of the socks! The away kit is nice, never really like those V styles but i do love a black kit so i am sure it will grow on me
