It is amazing though, 45 pages on a Celtic player who could end up in Cardiff. Think of all the work I could have been doing!

Yes I see your point. So you think the deal could be all but done but they're stalling in the hope that a 'bigger club' might come in? And the fee thing is a bit of a bluff. I think it could be a good think if all is quiet..... signing may be announced in a week or so when we've all given up!

I think the all evidence points to a disagreement in the agent fee, but negotiations are still ongoing rather than finished weeks ago like the agent said. His words were intentionally vague, and they contradicted multiple separate reports that say things are still ongoing. Also we're 90% sure Wanyama's going somewhere so this won't be dead until he goes somewhere else.

Celtic manager Lennon talking about the situation (and pays us a compliment):

"Lot of talk. We accepted a bid from Southampton, done nothing wrong."

"Ball firmly in his representatives court. Unhappy, as we dealt with it as professionally as possible."

"All we did was accept a bid from Southampton, a very good, progressive club."

"But there seems to be other parties wanting to block the deal."

"We felt the money was right for us, a good business deal for the club. Whether it resurfaces again, I don't know."

"The fact we accepted a bid tells you we felt it matched our valuation of the player. Don't know where we are with it at minute."

Seems to confirm the feeling that it's all down to Wanyama's agents.

I like the very good progressive club bit. He show's good taste!

The optimist in me says that's a good sign. We know he wants to sell Wanyama, so he should try to push him as hard as he can to join Saints.

someone on TSW says there's a rumour we tried to get Wanyama to dump his agent(s).

That would be classic Cortese.

That strikes me as a supremely stupid negotiating ploy. For that reason, I'm sceptical.

I don't know, if they were being unreasonable and were the sole sticking point, I'd be surprised if it hadn't been suggested - 'they're stopping you moving. Perhaps you could think about a more flexible agent.'

It reconciles with asking Adkins to resign from Scunny tbh. I don't think anyone debunked that.

I accept your point though that should the tactic fail it makes your negotiating position worse.
