Rebranding- Hull City Tigers

I'm getting concerned whether this is actually happening or not.

I've just seen a pic on twitter from Andy Metcalf with "Hull City Tigers" above the door at the KC.

I'm against these modern methods of getting rid of tradition and trying to chase new supporters, who may or may not care about us.

If City changed to Hull City Tigers nobody in the Far East would care, because we're not successful and they're all supporters of the Mancs, Liverpool, Chelsea fans anyway.
 
Ive been categorically told it's not a 'team name' rebrand, but elements of the organisation. Think of it like Kingston Communications and KCom, the most identifiable part of the business stays the same.

Obviously I may have been lied to....
 
Exactly, If they want to Call us Hull Tigers in the middle east because that attracts more attention then that is fine with me. Back here they aren't going to change the name of the club.
 
No that's spot on BCC.

That sign has been there a couple of months now. The justification the club have offered is exactly as you put it, it's not a team name rebrand but a company name one.

Or look at Man Utd. They always refer to The Theatre of Dreams now but have they formally changed the name of the stadium?
 
Assem wants us to be called Hull Tigers.

It's definitely coming and it needs stopping.

I've already told the club not to send me any further emails in the name of Hull Tigers(as was used for the new away kit launch), I note that the email I got from the club yesterday was in the name Hull AFC.

The one I got yesterday has no name at the bottom other than Hull City commercial, through the E mail address is "hulltigers"
 
I don't actually mind the name Hull Tigers. Most people refer to us as "The Tigers" anyway.

I'm also a fan of baseball and all of those teams have names like that (Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs, Toronto Blue Jays etc) and I actually think it's kind of cool.

For me to be happy with it though, it would have to be a league wide change otherwise it would look stupid if it was just one or two teams.

From the business side of things though, names like that work really well because your merchandise can suddenly be sold to people who live outside of the local area. A good example of this is New Era caps. If you could have just the tiger head on a black one of those it would sell internationally so easy (and at £30 a pop too). Saying that, you don't need a name change to make that really nice hat.

I'm full aware I'm in the minority on this, but if a better branding can provide a more financially stable future for my club then so be it.
 
The email address has been @hulltigers.com for years, that's not the issue, the email's are now coming out headed Hull Tigers, rather than Hull City AFC.

Assem doesn't reffer to us as 'Hull City Tigers', he repeatedly calls us 'Hull Tigers' on that interview(it's on iPlayer).

If we want to market ourselves as The Tigers in some markets, then that's fine, but we are Hull City, we should always be Hull City, this is pointless change that will piss off most fans, we should never be Hull Tigers, it's completely unnecessary.

Stick with American sport, there's no place for you here, I've never read so much clueless tripe.
 
I sorta get what minuteman is saying but we are Hull City and always should be.

As long as we are called 'Hull City' or 'Hull City AFC' I don't care if the start making 'The Tigers' or 'Tigers' more prominent in branding or merchandising. In fact if they want to sell in foreign markets just use our current badge as it and add 'The Tigers' under it best of both worlds.

Side note - What's on the badge of the new away shirt? 'Hull City' at the top or 'Hull City AFC'? 'Tigers' or 'The Tigers' at the bottom?
 
We're Hull City, why would we need to add the Tigers bit on? What benefits would that bring? I can understand the behind the doors stuff being rebranded, as it makes them look more tied in to the football side of things, but changing the name of the football team is completely unnecessary, it will bring no benefits unless we plan to become part of the NFL Franchise.

We've been Hull City for 109 years, why would they change it now?
