Course not. It's an absurd notion, but once you get a bug in your ass about something, it seems that there are a few people that shut up shop and look for any opportunity that presents itself to have a go at him.

I think anyone with this view is clearly being made to have it by Cortese and his Italian Mind control - yet further evidence of his need to interfere with everything in the world.

You would think people would go for the simplest explanation, that he's simply a good prospect. Some people seem like they can't let go of this idea that Cortese is interfering everywhere and running the show. Is there even any evidence for that?

Partly sarcastic. You would hope that he is being kept on because of his ability, part of me thinks that being an academy product he is going to be given more of a chance.

Was not suggesting that at all. Have no problem with our policy, it was a slightly tongue in cheek comment. Although our aim to get 50% academy players in the ist XI may influence who gets selected for the 1st team and not. Which is not a bad thing- I am in agreement with our policy, but was just looking at it from another angle.

I wasn't meaning you!

But you can trust that his priority is to win. Poch may have a remit about giving youth a chance, but that will mean getting them in with the first team to evaluate them, not giving them game time if they aren't up to the job.

I don't know about team selection, but generally footballing decisions nowadays are made by a group of people, not just one individual. Particularly transfers. I know that it doesn't seem right to a lot of people that there should be anyone apart from the manager who makes the decisions regarding team selection/transfers etc., but that's just the way it is. I'm pretty sure this happens at Southampton as well as most professional teams.

Transfers for example aren't just a managerial decision. I think generally the main decision makers are the manager, director of football and chairman. So Poch, Les Reed, and Cortese at Southampton. Obviously the scouts have an impact too. We signed Forren within hours of Adkins being sacked. To me, this strongly suggests that Reed & Cortese were largely behind the transfer, rather than it being solely Poch's decision.

At the beginning of the season a lot of people said we were playing a certain formation (433?) because Cortese wanted us to, not Adkins. Most people on here strongly opposed this claim at the time, but I wouldn't be surprised if this was the case. Nor would I be disappointed though. Gone are the days with 1 dictator-style manager at the club. Modernisation has brought us a more democratic approach with a group of people having an input, not just the manager, and for me that's a good thing.

We have opened talks with Celtic over Wanyama according to various sources. Come on, please can we get him!

It has been reported by a lot of sources. Doesn't mean it's true though! I would absolutely love it if he came though. Personally I think it's highly unlikely, teams Liverpool and arsenal should definitely be looking at him, and I expect this media coverage will just force their hand tbh.

Desperately trying not to get my hopes up regarding us getting Wagamama (Have always called him this since first hearing his name!). He would be a fantastic signing and would signal a clear sign of intent by us. Just looked at the Sun article and underneath it is one comment from a Man U fan saying:

Blooming hell, United could do with this guy. Seriously WTF is Moyes doing !!!!!

Sums it up really but also got to remember it is the sun 'reporting' it.

Must say, I love what Villa is doing. There's risk in signing so many young players (especially when they were already one of the youngest teams in the Prem), but if they keep Benteke and Weimann there will be an awful lot of talent in that squad.

If.
