Who would you prefer? Hooper or Austin?

I saw some mention on the Burnleh message boards that Jordan Rhodes had put a formal transfer request in.
 
We could certainly do worse than Carlton Cole on a free transfer, especially when considering our lack of strikers with the ability to play at Premier League level.

Would be good addition but very very unlikely for him to come North -he seems to favour the MLS - sdays it all

Obviously everythings just speculation at the minute anyway, maybe I'm just biased and think that a strike force and Hooper would be better than most other strike partnerships in the premier league (well better than around 10 others at least).

The Venky's lot are a bunch of tits, can Rhodes refuse to play for them or would that be a breach of contract? Maybe he'd be willing to take a paycut if it meant playing at a higher level?

He can't refuse to play(nor do I think he would) and he'd possibly consider some sort of a pay-cut, but there's still the issue of the fee and Blackburn wanting to get their money back.

Wonder if they'll consider a loan, whereby we pay £3.5m up front with no recall clause and then pay them the rest at the end of the season.

Jack Hobbs aint going anywhere. It has been tweeted that he wont be leaving. Davies is a cash deal.

Until Steve Bruce says it himself then its just paper rumour. Why would Bruce allow one of his top 3 defenders leave ? With no loans allowed after the window shuts we need all the players we can get.

I suspect we might see something happening if this is now out in the open.
 
Does this mean that perhaps Bruce has a back 3 of Chester, Davies and Figuero in mind?

Surely he can't be contemplating McShambles or Faye to be first choice CB in this division?

Without a decent keeper in the building, McShane is gearing up to play in goal.
 
So with McGregor incoming and Elmo about to be tied up, we'd definsively be
