Thought this was the Curtis Davies thread!!

Cole would be an excellent signing. FACT. We still need another striker as well.

    So is Davies.

Davies and Figeuroa would be great additions, that would definitely look something like a premier league defence if Chester makes to step up we all think/hope he will.

Cole was always touted as hugely talented when he was at Chelsea and has always seemed to be almost a great player. I'd have him though.

Hobbs on loan is good. Means we can grab him back if we go down.
    Prefer it to a sale.

    Plan for both possibilities!

    That's a bit unfair.

He never reached the level of Kak.

If you Google the 10 biggest wastes of money he is up there around the top of the list. If memory serves Leeds (lol) paid about £8m for him (When £1m was big money), and got a fat (really) bag of shyte. But McDonalds takings went up by about the same amount.

I think the worst Swedish player I ever saw play in England was Rade Prica, he scored ****loads everywhere else, but managed 1 goal in 6 appearances for Sunderland after signing for over £2m. He left, went to Rosenborg and had a goalscoring ratio of 1 in 2, finishing with 57 in 104 before moving to Maccabi Haifa, where he has 8 in 18. Maybe England just doesn't suit some players, it's not as technical as some of the foreign leagues and sometimes being able to score goals abroad doesn't count for everything.

Back to the OT, Davies would be a top signing and loaning Hobbs is a safer bet than letting him go permanently. Who will we make captain in his stead? Rosenior? Chester? Meyler? Will Koren play enough games to warrant being the captain?

Isn't Hobbs into the final 12 months of his deal?

Why are we so desperate to get rid of Hobbs when he's been the mainstay of our defence for the best part of 3 years? I don't get it!!

It would appear that SB has concerns about his pace in the EPL. I guess there is no one better to know whether he can step up or not than the manager himself, and he obviously has doubts that he can.

He should be trying to offload Bruce and McShane first then.

Plus it might have something to do with the 'Live in East Yorkshire' part that AA is trying to push through. If that's the case I can see him and Fryatt leaving.

In your opinion. From what I remember about Elmander he was useless, then good and then went back to useless. At 32 I would rather we left him alone. Carlton Cole is crap.

Obvs if this Austin bid is true then I'm confident that we'll leave these two well alone anyway :).

Curtis Davies would be a good signing for 2.25 mill imo. I don't really want Hobbs to leave but I trust Bruce to make the right call as to which players we sign/let go

Think it might be an idea to merge this thread with the transfer rumours thread now.

There's no way we're only signing one striker.

I think we can forget cole, he's a Londoner, he won't want to live north of Northampton.

I though Hobbs lived locally - I'm sure Mike White was saying there was no way he would move back to Leicester last season as his kids were settled in school?

I'm not saying we'll only sign one, I reckon that should we sign Austin we'll launch a new bid for Hooper. I just don't think Elmander or Cole would be good options.

Hooper and Austin will cost £9-10m, I'm not sure we'll spend that much on two players.

Which is why I suspect we're looking at one striker with a hefty fee and one cheap one.

We might go for both, I'm only guessing, but Elmo(£2m), Davies(£2.25m), McGregor(£1.8m) and Austin(£4m) already takes us over £10m and we still need a second keeper and a central midfielder, I'm not sure we'll go to another £5m for the second striker.

I guess it depends what wages were gonna be paying people, if we can get our wage budget below expectation there's more notes for transfer fees.
